Potential Comp Picks

You must not know what hindsight means then.

I wanted to trade him during the season when we actually could.
The last two years were the first time in the last 30 years where Miami was good enough to make a Super Bowl run (if all things came into alignment). If we traded him either in 22 or 23 like you’re suggesting it would have been a huge red flag on Chris Grier having a ****ing clue.

Those two teams had an offense that could have contended with anyone and at times, played excellent complimentary football.

So no, trading him would not have been a good move or idea.

Yes it would've. Asset re-allocation.

I kind of disagree, if a team knows what their doing, they can find good starting quality players in the 3rd or later, not easy, but it's there for the taking if you know what you're doing.

Miami in the the last 4 years have drafted (3rd and beyond) or signed after draft Devon Achane, Brandon Jones, Blake Ferguson, Andrew Van Ginkle, Myles Gaskin, Jerome Baker, Durham Smythe, Isiah Ford, Chris Brooks, Kader Kohou to mention a few, and that's only the last 4 years.

Miami just needs to do the work, and continue to find the talent.

You don't know what you've got, until you use it. - LOL

We aren't there yet but in a few years perhaps the team would have enough quality depth to replace a Wilkins-type on the fly if it appeared they could not resign the player but could obtain considerable draft capital by trading them. It is the rationale in drafting to positions of strength especially the more expensive positions.

Losing two of the top players on the team for a possible 3rd and 4th round pick is severely disappointing but unfortunately with the cap in the NFL, that’s the way things work.

They will be lucky to find a player in the 3rd or 4th rounds who will be anything more than a special team player but we can always hope they get lucky with at least one of those picks.
Right. Also have the ability to move up and use these extra picks if necessary.
