Kiko's blog... He belongs to Miami

Alonso remains the glue holding this linebacker group together, his value evident in several enormous plays, including the game-winning interception return against San Diego.

“He had a hell of a year for us,” defensive coordinator Vance Joseph said.

The Dolphins were 30th against the run this season, but “Kiko has done well against the run,” Joseph said.

Alonso finished 18th in the league in tackles (112) and tied with Houston’s Whitney Mercilus for first in fumbles recovered (four). He also had two interceptions and forced a fumble.

That should say a lot for people who don't like Kiko.

Sure, you can nitpick little things he does but my lord!!

I hope every Lber we have has a year like that for us this year.

We'll be winning a lot!!

The question of how much Kiko was worth or should be paid long term shouldn't have even been an issue this year because we had him signed for one more year under the restricted tender. We had next year to decide all that, to evaluate his 2017 and come to a conclusion on his contract and role with the team... instead Tannebaum feels it's soooo important to lock him up now? After one year of racking up tackles playing alongside bums at linebacker. Why, what's the rush? I don't get it. So now not only is he overpaid but the extension was premature as well.
