Jarvis looking for Top 5 $

Unlike Stills I do think someone will pay Landry. Maybe not top five money but enough above what Miami wishes to pay that a hard decision will have to be made.

I don't mind "over paying" him considering the production and passion he brings to the team. What I do mind is paying someone who feels he can hold a team hostage (say in the way Revis once did to the Jets).

To put it another way I could be alright with paying him 14 mill a year for the next four years. What I wouldn't tolerate is him having a banner year and thinking he could then hold out for an even better contract. I have no reason to think he would do so. But then I also have no reason to think he wouldn't.

I "do" think he feels like he is one of the "best" and not "just a slot WR" and feels money is an indication of how a team values him. I could imagine him being easily insulted (Heat's Wade comes to mind).

However, as much as it was a PR nightmare for the Heat to see Wade go, and no matter how the fans felt, it was the best move for the team to move forward. When I look at how many other WR's the team has aquired I wonder if they see the writing on the wall. I wonder how us fans will feel? Can it be possible this is a step the team needs to make in order to move forward? Right now it is too painful to acknowledge but I dare say I felt much the same about Wade at the time. Still, Landry is young and can be a part of our future. The team just needs to find a way to make it all fit that works for both sides.

Gase seems to be the kind of guy the plays fair with his men. Willing to reward somewhat beyond market value even. I'm going to try and remember that if a deal can't be made!

Top 5 slot? Yes.
Top 5 WR? No.

Top 7 in no particular order:
1) Antonio Brown
2) Julio Jones
3) OBJ
4) Dez Bryant
5) AJ Green
6) Jordy Nelson
7) DeAndre Hopkins

Jarvis would be somewhere 8 through 12-ish...

I haven't paid a ounce of attention to the Heat since. Just don't give a **** since Wade was ousted. Football is very different, and I don't have the same attachments to Landry (nor any single player) but just saying.

On the Patriots, Landry is a HOFer. Same ol' fking story with this club and some of the fans. Pay him and DESIGN SCHEMES to get the best out of him. Or trade him for a 2nd rounder and watch him become a TD/1st down making machine. Oh wait... deja vu.

NFL record for most catches in 3 seasons, but we don't design the offense around his strengths??? :facepalm

Nah buddy, you're waaaay off. This offense has been tailored almost exclusively around Landry (especially his first 2 years) with Tannehill being his comfort blanket so to speak and go-to-guy the past 3 years. Landry also has 160 1st downs in his career which should average around the top 15 over the past 3 seasons as well.

Also in NE he would not be the focal point, just like any and all players there are not unless it is sought out to be as a matchup advantage for individual game plans.

He's not worth top 5 money but at the same tie you CANT let him go, not after losing Miller and Vernon last year. It's hard enough for us to draft good players, gotta keep some of them.

Good point, lets put it this way no problem moving on if you have a replacement waiting in the wings and you can gardner a good draft pick for it too. I still believe moving on from Miller and Matthews for just 5th rounders was a mistake

I am a huge fan of Jarvis Landry. But I cannot fathom giving him 14M+ a year as a slot receiver. Don't be surprised if he isn't with the team next year if his demands stay in that range. Hopefully this is more posturing than a belief in his worth.

Should have put Kenny stills money in Landry to soften this blow. You are gonna have to pay dvp top 5 money in 3 years

Once he gets voted into the top 50 players in the league which is likely coming he's gonna have even more leverage than the stills contract gave him.

The team will pay what they see is their value for the term of the upcoming contract not where the player "thinks" they should be. They should see the value of Jarvis Landry to the team in terms of passion and leadership and include that to the numbers and come to the conclusion that we should be keeping him on the team. If he does go it and it is because of the money then I don't think he will go to the Pats. They wont be paying top dollar while they have Edleman that plays his roll for scraps.

I love Jarvis, but he doesn't score enough for that type of money
