Jarvis looking for Top 5 $

We need Landry to be as good as he can be this year and hopefully sign him before he hits the market and his price tag goes up. They will ink Landry to an enormous contract, perhaps to the detriment of the team in the long run and I hope that's not the case but it very well may be. I know designing the offense around Landry is not going to get us to the next level. One season when Landry was the games leading receiver, we did not have as many wins as in games when DVP and Hartline led in receptions. To be dynamic we have to be successful spreading the ball as well as running it.

I dont see top 5 really. He's a great player but his numbers just arent there, especially in touchdowns. Top 5 wr's get 10 tds, not 4. His catch numbers have been pretty seriously inflated playing with tannehill and using short routes also. Remember how many catches Brian hartline was getting with all our short passes? Now Landry is waaay better than hartline but he's not top 5. Brown, green, Jones, Bryant, Evans..... There is still a few more, fitz, Nelson... His numbers are shockingly similar to Doug Baldwin's, except 3 less td's. Baldwin got around 11 mill a year last off-season, and that was coming off of a league leading 14 td season. Sorry Jarvis, you're gonna have to come down to earth a bit. I'm prettt sure it gets done for about the same as Baldwin's deal.

I guess this will be a monthly (or more) discussion, based entirely on hearsay in which people lose their **** over the amount of money players are paid (or potentially paid) without any actual impact on anything. Maybe we can just link to the previous one so the same stuff isn't being repeated?

He gets the offense excited, he makes extra yards and big plays constantly, so many non statistical reasons he is worth top money. Stills deep on those 2nd and 3rd and short happen for a reason.

Now DVP and Stills coming up? Im seeing a chain moving machine coming to Miami. This is an exciting problem to have my friends ;)

Well, Tavon Austin is the 3rd highest paid WR in the NFL....

I like Jarvis, but sometimes you have to let guys go. I don't begrudge him for trying to get the best deal he can. If he decides that he would rather take more money (or go play with Odell) and give up what he has here then best of luck to him. Not saying I would be happy about it, but it's a business, for him too, after all.

Why fans get hung up on money is beyond me. Who gives a crap how much his salary is. It's not your money. You aren't going to have to feed your kids ramen if Landry gets 14.5M instead of 12M. Feels like a petty thing to get up in arms about.

Fans get hung up on money because they realize that you can not maintain a high level of play over an extended period of time paying big money contracts to every player on your roster under the constraints of a salary cap. Those fans are smart enough to know that that it is not how the successful organizations in the league do business.

Fins will overpay Jarvis
DeVante will turn into the elite #1 and that we've all wanted for years
aaaaaandddddd he's gone

For me it's because this could hurt the team in acquiring other important pieces to the team. If he gets hurt that is a huge chunk of money invested in only one person. We have already invested both large contracts and draft picks on the wide receiver group. Finally, I am always concerned about team dynamics with team-mates who make fractional amount of money yet post comparable numbers (Parker?)
