Jarvis looking for Top 5 $

Is Landry worth "top 5" money? No probably not. But he also probably won't get THAT much, maybe he's in the top 10 or 15 paid of wr's, I could see that, but I don't see us giving him some extremely outrageous contract... I'm on the boat of- keep Landry, let Parker develop into the alpha he is, cut Stills and use that money to help with Parker's deal.. less than 2 mil cap hit after 3 years, not bad. Kenny is a good player, but if Parker grows into his role, he is just more necessary

First let's debunk this ridiculous notion that because Landry plays the majority of his snaps in the slot that he isn't worth the value of a perimeter WR in today's game.

The base defense in the NFL has become the Nickel, especially for 4 man front schemes. That's happened b/c offenses in 2017 spent 66% of their time in 3 or more WR sets with 60% of that in 11 personnel. Miami alone in '17 used 3 or more WR sets 81% of their snaps and 74% of those snaps were in 11 personnel. And before we move on and while we're talking snap count percentages, Landry played in 94% of the the Dolphins' total snaps for '17.

The slot position is no longer some offensive niche or the 3rd receiver on the team. The slot is a full time starter just like the other two perimeter receivers. Not only that the slot is the most versatile position to create mismatches all over the field. It requires them to not only be exceptional pass catchers and route runners, but at times they also have more complex pre and especially post snap responsibilities being that they face a slew of different defenders and coverages while navigating the middle of the field. They are also an important part in helping the QB ID coverages thru motion.

Since the slot WR replaces a TE or RB in the formation, in most cases it also helps remove a run defender in the defensive front. Though you still can't run effectively without your receivers blocking, particularly the slot, and Landry is also one of the most unselfish and effective receivers in that area as well. Let's not forget his value on special teams as well when and if the time calls for it.

Landry has proved he is one of the best slot receivers in the game. In other words, he is one the best chess pieces in the NFL and a very valuable commodity to our offense along with the great chemistry he has developed with Tannehill. That type of QB/WR bond doesn't happen overnight and does requires years of reps to build that trust. It'd be idiotic to let that slip away.

The cap rises every year; he is one of our very own; he is a special player; pay the man the damn money he has earned.

this shouldnt even be a question pay the man he is the heart beat of a team on the rise. the TD against the rams to give this team a spark, and the bouncing off of Dontae hightower against new england are two special plays, that in my mind embody what he means to this team not just offense. he may not be a prototypical outside the numbers wr or deep threat but he is all heart and one hell of a football player if we lose him over 2 or 3 mil ill lose my ****ing mind and lead a riot to ross, grier gase and anyone else i encounter while im pillaging dolphin stadium.

We will know Miami has reached quality level when we start saying we would like to keep a player like Landry, but the bus will keep on rolling with or without him. WIth the exception of Brady, the Patriots don't fear the team will collapse if they lose any one player. Elite level teams feel the other 21 starters can keep things going if one is lost through trade, injury or other circumstances.

You mean the team that just re-signed Hightower with about 50% guaranteed? The same team that paid McCourty a pretty penny to stay a couple years ago and Gilmore this year? The same team that paid their LT a fully guaranteed 2 year contract? The same Pats that are currently reworking Gronk's contract that will likely make him the highest paid TE in the league? The team with the highest paid kicker in the league?

Good teams keep their talent.

Like everyone else, I love everything that Landry brings to this team - his intangibles have a tremendously positive impact on the team as a whole. That being said, I don't believe it is just a matter of pay him whatever he wants. This isn't just an argument over whether or not to give him $15M vs $12M a year from a purely financial perspective. If there was no salary cap, this decision is easy. But whatever money we do decide to give him, that becomes money that cannot be used to pay another Dolphin player. What if that monetary difference means we have to let another high quality player go just because we ended up "a little short"? Instead of thinking about it financially, we need to think of salary as a limited number of "chips" that the organization can split up across its players. The more you give to one player, the less that stays in the pot for other players. Pay him what is fair, but do not overpay - top 5 salary is overpaying IMO...

Jarvis is so much more than a great player.

Guys like him are really hard to find.

If it's a difference of a couple million, please pay the guy.

He's been nothing short of a total stud for us.

I know he doesn't have a lot of Tds but he gets us down to the 1-2 yd line what seems like 4-6 times a season just to fall short.

Damien Williams had 6 tds a season while Jarvis had 4 lol

For Jarvis, Tds aren't what we should judge him off of.

It was getting annoying to see him fall just a couple yds short lol

I believe Landry's agent is going to start with a high number considering every smart negotiator would do so.

I think our FO understands what Jarvis means to us as a Fan Base.

Hopefully Jarvis can settle for $12-13mil a year.

I wish I could "settle" for 12 mil per year lol

He will get his money and then other receivers will sign for more and it will even out. A lot of people thought RTs deal was a bit much at the time, but now it looks like a steal compared to what is being given to QBs today. The salary cap goes up every year to deal with inflation and I'm sure they will structure it in a way that it doesn't screw up the ability to sign players.

People need to realize with the cap going up like it is, this is gonna be commonplace with players

That's very true.

It really bothered a lot of people on here about what we paid certain players.

I want a team that is familiar with each other.

We need to continue to establish ourselves and letting guys walk was a lesson we learned the hard way the season before.

He need get paid. I would keep him before DVP. good leadership

Once he gets voted into the top 50 players in the league which is likely coming he's gonna have even more leverage than the stills contract gave him.

Not to be a prick, but I highly doubt Landry will make the Top 100 team.

He would have made it already.

Do I believe he's one? Yes absolutely

Gase wants to keep our big 3 receiving corp together.

I hope he does as much as he can to keep guys around.

DVP, Jarvis, and Stills would be a nightmare with more time together and a beast RB!!

he was on list last yr

Ya but the list is getting down to the top 50.

As much as I love Jarvis, he's not a top 50 player.

I think he would have already made it.

Maybe I'm wrong..I don't think so at this point
