Dolphins may cut Leonte Carroo a year after trading up for him

I believe that this is a story about having strong competition for the last 3 spots. I would expect nothing less. It is likely by the start of the season, 1 or 2 guys will get dinged up and the choices will present themselves. However, if everyone stays healthy, and Caroo is the weakest receiver of the bunch I would applaud our decision to cut him regardless of what we gave up for him. Major whiff, but you move on.

I still kind of confused who Carroo was supposed to be insurance for? He certainly isn't a Stills replacement because he doesn't have the speed. Did they draft him with the idea of perhaps letting Jarvis go if contract demands got too high?

The silver lining is at least it looks like they're learning from past mistakes. The FO had to be kicking themselves this past draft when those picks we pissed away came up and all the talent - which was needed - that was left on the board that other teams will now benefit from. They could've doubled down on stupid (a common, reactionary move) but realized there's gonna be another deep draft next year and decided against it. Baby steps.

I read the article and it really doesn't seem to have any basis from inside the team and is really just an assumption. I would be absolutely shocked if they let Carroo go.

Carroo is making this team like it or not. Too heavy of an investment, and he's a hard worker with quite a bit of potential. Don't blame the guy because we made the stupid move of giving up so many picks to draft him. I don't think the FO expected Kenny Stills to produce at the level he did last season.

Grant is the guy who should be gone. I hope Drake does well as a punt returner now that he's getting reps there, because he's a far better kick returner and actually offers something on offense.

Juice, DVP, Stills, Carroo, Ford, and either Morgan or Scott.

Carroo was chosen because Stills had a disappointing first year in Miami, and Parker played in 6 games his first season. Stills and Parker broke through and Carroo learned for a year. It took Parker, a first round pick, 10 games to get on the field his first season and that was only because Mathews broke a rib. The majority of 1st round WRs struggle breaking through the first year in the NFL, and we freak out that a 3rd round pick couldn't do it. Relax and give the kid a chance.

Best 5 WRs will make the team and if he is not one of them then yes he will be cut or traded for a 7th round pick

I am frankly surprised by all this. These are early days and I would expect Carroo to be given plenty of opportunities in Training Camp and pre-season games. However, it is interesting that there are multiple tweets/reports re how good Drew Morgan is looking at OTAs. Maybe this speculation of Carroo in danger of being cut was deliberately placed in the media to light a big fire under his a$$.
I don't know much about Morgan. Welcome feedback.

I know there's been talk about not asking Carroo to learn Parker's, Landry's and Still's assignments and that Gase said he may be asked just to back up one of the receivers, not all three. I think Morgan is more of a slot receiver, so that might be more of a threat to Grant than Carroo or Ford. BY now we should all know that who looks good in May doesn't always impact who looks good in August and September. If Carroo is moved it won't happen until the first week of September so any spectulation by the fans and media this early is close to meaningless.

If he's not panning out and you're using a roster spot on him just because you spent a lot of draft capital on him then you are throwing good money after bad.

I'll wait for training camp to see how this plays out. I wouldn't be surprised considering they cut Jamil Douglas just last year in only his 2nd year. there could be the reality with all the talent at received that it happens

I really want Carroo to succeed and think some people give him an unwarranted hard time, however I'm really not concerned about getting Carroo more involved in the offense. I want to see 40 more targets for Parker. I want to see 15 or 20 more for Stills. And I probably would like to see 20 more targets to both the tight end and running back position. That's 100 more pass attempts right there. If you give me that and drop Carroo, Grant and whom ever else to zero targets I'm a happy camper. If Stills, Parker and Landry stay healthy I want to feed them as much as we can. Not to mention Gase wants more carries for Ajayi too.

Well if some of these young guys totally out play him on a consistent basis, then I wouldn't have a problem with them taking the hit right now. I would rather them keep better talent than hold onto someone who has been clearly out performed, because he was a higher pick.
