Grade 3 usually requires surgery. Grade 1 does not. Grade 2, sometimes.

Tannehill did not have a complete tear/grade 3, or he would have needed surgery. He had either a 1 or a 2. For both, the preferred treatment is to avoid ligament replacement surgery unless it is needed, as the surgery itself introduces a whole new world of potential problems.

Tl;Dr - wanting surgery for anything less than a complete tear is asinine.

He should have just had a full knee replacement! Titanium.
