Going to need to keep an eagle eye on the centers this year... With Mike Pouncey's injury being so unpredictable we should be making a serious push to address center for the long term during the next Off Season

Yeah, I agree. Hopefully it's not one year too late. I think Ted Larson could end up playing center this year if Mike Pouncey goes down, but the team needs a better solution long-term. A starting caliber guard who can also play center would be ideal. Bushrod will likely be replaced next year as well.

Thanks for all your work, Slimm. I always look forward to your analysis. What's your take on centers in this draft, or guard/center types? Is there a Pat Eflein type out there this year that could be a target for Miami?

The center/guard class is a little stronger than the 2017 class. I like it better towards the top.

Billy Price is essentially going to be a carbon copy of Elflein. Same school, same size, same experience, and moving from guard to pivot for his senior season.

Slimm,

With the way the league is headed, how much do you value guards, centers, run stopping DT's, and linebackers?

For instance, would you hold off on drafting any of these positions until a certain point in the draft, or just draft best players regardless of position?

Quentin Nelson would've been hands down the best interior OL had he come out this year

Martinas Rankin is staying at LT this year, as Elgton Jenkins is moving from LG to C. He's another one to keep an eye on.

I finished him up last week. Have a late 1st on him.

I'm not settled on a price for him but he looks so much like a pro, it's easy to be comfortable. The question to me is whether he ends up more or less another John Moffitt (hopefully without the mental issues), or whether it's more than that. I don't mean to get ahead of myself, but there's definitely also some Dave DeCastro in there.

Slimm, Okorafor reminds me of Osemele coming out. I remember you being much higher than the consensus on him. Any comps you like better for Okorafor?

I agree that McGlinchey and Rankin are better players right now, but I just learned that they're each about 3 years older than Okorafor, and I'm inclined to give him a bump for that. All three are plenty physical and would look good inside - even with McGlinchey being 6'7. All three also play with good, low bases but have some issues with losing integrity and leaning forward, but that's more of a niggle than a real knock. The OL depth looks a lot better for the 2018 Draft - lots of OT's who can kick inside.

I think that's a fine comparison. Although I was looking forward to seeing Okorafor matched up against Joe Ostman a couple weeks ago when they got beat by Central Michigan, but Ostman was out and didn't play.

Ah man, good call. Ostman is one of my favorite players to watch. Love the way he uses his hands - a little similar to Barnett on the outside move, and I think his spin move is about as good as Charles Harris's. He competes hard and with great awareness (takes smart pursuit angles) and hand placement in the run game. He's old, don't think he's very athletic, and he's missed a lot of time, but I can't drop him below the 4th/5th range. I'd like him to test better than I expect. He would have given Okorafor problems. The gap in skill would have likely bridged the gap in size and athleticism.

I'm not sure Okorafor is particularly athletic, though. I'd like to see him inside, where he can use his people-moving skills, rely on that 330lb base, and not have to worry about matching up with NFL DE and OLB's in space. Coordination is not a concern for me as much as pure quickness and/in change of direction. Inside, I think he's fine, has plenty, but I don't know if I want to see him blocking guys who run 4.5-4.7, with 3-cones between 6.70-7.10 and NBA-level hops - not that he'll be terrible, but I think his ceiling is a lot higher as an OG.
