Dolphins may cut Leonte Carroo a year after trading up for him

If you didn't suffer through the 9 years of Tom Olivadotti, I don't want to hear another word.
I was there and the big issue was no running game plus the version of the west coast offense we ran which never rested the defense. So while Tom O was part of the problem but not the entire problem l.

Agreed but you can't teack quick or speed which is Stills game and height or spring which is Parkers game but you can improve route running which is Laundrys game.

I agree on those aspects, but Landry is very special in his own right with qualities like agility, quickness, body control, incredibly soft hands, and that desire to not only be the best but also in what some may misconstrue as sass or ego is an essential attitude of all great receivers that take great pride in their craft with an uncanny degree of competitiveness. Landry is an exceptional player.

Yep Laundry is exceptional. Wonder when the beating he keeps taking will catch up with him?

Carroo could've gone as high as early second. His college career was pretty masterful. His route running was described as nuanced by some draftniks. Good hands, good blocker. Not everyone gets called a more explosive Anquan Boldin in their scouting report.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how the backup receiver group performs. Leonte could prove to be a valuable player.

Me too. I think that cb and wr will have the most intrigue in camp/preseason. Carroo, Ford, Grant, and Scott will be all out battling for 2 roster spots, and then you have the chance an UDFA enters the battle. I'm curious if there is any chance they keep 6 WR? I hate the chance of an injury forcing Grant in to a game in one of top 3 WR spots, but don't hate the idea of keeping him for special teams.

I think there's a good chance Miami keeps 6 receivers, Carroo, Grant, Ford and Scott would be fighting for 3 spots. Grant has more to prove than Carroo as far as earning a roster spot goes, plus Ford , Scott or one of the udfa's would make more sense on the practice squad than Carroo. As someone else said earlier, if Carroo doesn't make the roster it would be more about the other players really playing well than Carroo playing poorly.

It would be great if Landry, Parker, Stills and Carroo are playing well and Miami would have an option of keeping all 4 or trading one for something of value. When was the last time Miami had enough talent at a position that trading someone for a decent draft pick or starter at another position was a serious option? I can't remember anything in the past 10 or 15 seasons... maybe even longer. Carroo might be one of the 49ers top receivers if he were on their roster.

I know we traded players like Vontae Davis and Brandon Marshall for 2nd and 3rd round picks, but it wasn't really due to surplus of talent.

We got to give Carroo a chance to get accustom to being a pro; that being said, the anger from me is not necessarily if he can play the position at a high level, but what we gave up to acquire him in the first place which is not his fault. What the hell were they thinking when they gave up that many picks.

I believe there will be a lot of competition for his roster spot. We will see if he has what it takes to be a member of the team or if someone else is more hungry.

I don't lose any sleep over the 2016 6th round pick that was included in the trade. In my mind 6th and 7th round picks can easily be recouped and often players drafted in those rounds don't have a large impact on a team's future anyway. A 2017 3rd and 4th for a 2016 3rd isn't a bad trade in itself if you really like a player. Dallas took Dak Prescott late in the 4th round, but as things turned out if they would have traded a 2017 3rd and 4th round pick for a 3rd to select Prescott people would look back on the deal now and say it was a great move.

I wouldn't have made the deal Miami made, just because I think there are always other ways to find receiver depth. While I liked Carroo, I also liked other receivers who would have been on the board later and definitely liked some of the receiver options that were on the board in the 3rd and 4th this year. Miami could have signed a vet to a cheap one year deal for depth in 2016 and addressed the position with one of the 2017 draft picks this year instead of losing both. Minnesota traded the 4th round pick they received from Miami to Cincinnati and the Bengals selected wr Josh Malone. I would rather have had Malone and Miami's 2017 3rd than Carroo and as I said earlier I like Carroo. Malone has Parker's height and Stills speed and could develop into a nice find for the Bengals. Carroo, Grant and Ford might not be much better than Malone, Grant and Ford would have been.

I don't expect Tankersley to make much of an impact until his 2nd year. He's got a lot to learn.
He has a lot to learn based on what? The guy was a top CB in the ACC, he can come in and play right away. There is no basis to say he has a lot to learn

According to all the research I have read on Tank he needs to learn how to tackle kind of a bacic skill set when playing defense.

He started for a national championship team at Clemson....I think he knows how to tackle SMH
