Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry named best slot receiver by Pro Football Focus

I suspect Jarvis and his agents are playing a similar game with Antonio Brown to what happened two years ago with Julio Jones, Dez Bryant, and A.J. Green. Neither wanted to sign until he was aware of what the others were getting. Jarvis won't make as much as Brown, but Brown won't take less than Jarvis. And our guy is trying to get fair value when this year's market is not set.

Tannenbaum needs to be careful in his approach to a guy whose intangible assets (leadership, toughness) are as valuable as his football talent.

Nice we finally have a wr that's the best at something. First since hardline won best impression on slipping on a banana After catching pass

So PFF is the supreme ruler when it comes to evaluations??

ok
No but you're the supreme ruler in thread evaluation and missing joking around. You know finheaven, when PFF says a player the site likes stinks it's garbage but when they like a player the site likes they're not that bad. In fairness I don't think anyone thinks they're great. Just garbage or not bad depending on the player and evaluation positive or negative/

Finally Jarvis gets the respect he deserves!!!

We NEED to resign him!!

He's the face of our franchise and a fan favorite. (Only Jersey I have left)

Just pay the man!!! He's definitely the best slot receiver.

Always thought it was ridiculous when they would rank Baldwin over Landry.

How many times did Jarvis make a big catch and get tackled right before the goal line just for our Rbs to run it in or throw a quick PA pass?

His Touchdowns IMO, should've been more.

I would get so pissed what seemed like every game he wouldn't get in and drag someone 10 yds just to be a yrd short.

He's special. Never again can this team take OUR players for granted.

There's 31 other teams that would gladly pony up and pay the man!!

Let's get it done. Jarvis isn't the type to just call it a career after getting paid.

He'll play just as hard and even better.

Something special is brewing is Davie right now. Get ready all my fellow fin fans!!

As I said before, this season just feels different in every aspect.

Talent, Stability, Coaching, young to old ratio, etc..

He's earned every penny (In football standards lol)

PHINS UP!!!

Well, I will admit- your sarcasm went right over my head.. but there wasn't really any hint of it either.. anyways pff shouldn't be the only way some people form their opinions of players. Especially when they (can) be so off.

This article says “Landry may not be the name that first comes to mind when one thinks of great NFL slot receiver"?

Really? Who else would compete?
";"

And with good reason. Jarvis Landry is an impact slot receiver. Great hands, wonderful route running, good quickness to create separation, decent size of a target, and a strong runner after the catch. The aspect that I think doesn't get rated as highly as it deserves is the leadership in the WR room. IMHO, that's what separates a very good receiver from a great one like Jarvis Landry.

At work there are so many Cheatriot fans it's sickening ... none with even the tiniest connection to Boston, New England or the Cheatriots ... sooo many bandwagonners. They constantly claim that Edelman is better than Landry, and we constantly disagree. Last year they tried to use the NFL Players' Top 100 players as supporting evidence ... I'll be curious how they see it this year with Landry vaulting up to #42. Now with this PFF Accolade ... it will be fun reminding them of how they swore these 'objective' metrics were obviously correct. :cool

Maybe but in 3 years Landry has equaled what Edelman's done in 8. Doesn't seem like a comparison

Over the last three years Landry has 288 for 3051 and 13 TD's. Edelman has 251 for 2770 and 14 TD's while missing 9 games.

He may not have done much his first couple of years...but you can't argue that Edelman is right up there with Landry right now...

And some people on here don't wanna pay him? He is the most electric player on our team. With Stills and Parker we're on the cusp of having a dangerous WR trio

I think he's earned his new contract. I don't think people realize what the loss of Jarvis would mean to this team.

He's the heart and soul and the guy that keeps fighting and fighting. Warrior mentality

He has the most receptions all time in anyone's first three years, blocks like a bad mofo, doesn't go down on first contact yet still holds onto the ball.

I would be devastated if we were to lose Jarvis.

He's the face of the franchise. We can't let players with HOF potential go especially over a few million.

Vernon should have taught our FO a lesson after an All-Pro honor the next year.

Just my opinion of course..

Funny that a lot of us touted his ceiling as "Hines Ward". Jarvis has already become a more viscous version of Hines Ward and that's saying a lot. He's also been WAY more productive through his first 3 years. Now it's time for the TD's to come. Lots of targets to go around this year so I'm predicting he won't see as many. It may even open things up for him since teams won't be able to focus on him as much. YPC may go up with more scores.
