Jarvis looking for Top 5 $

I didn't bash him at the beginning. I was dubious of his success because he was riding a HOF quarterback to notoriety. But I've always said that picking coaches is a crapshoot with too many variables for anyone -- especially those of us on the outside -- to make an effective evaluation.

No ****. I did. I was just adding to your nonsense.

The fact that you think the number of passes he's caught proves your point says it all about how bad your argument is. It would be as if I said that the fact that Matthew Stafford threw for 5000+ yards in a season as proof that he's an exceptional quarterback.

Fair enough. I agree statistics are meaningless without context. Got some time to go over tape?

Now boys none of this is gonna get you paid like a top 5 member.

Ah. Well, in that case I don't have to imagine the withering sarcasm and air of superiority you would have had about it.

Fine then. I agree statistics are meaningless without context. Got some time to go over tape?

Unfortunately, no. But feel free to post highlights of him getting open if you think that will make your case.

This sounds like a lose-lose right now. Let him go and it's bad, he won't be easily replaced. Overpay him, that's bad, too. He's a very nice player, but not a great one. Trouble is with our lack of a true number one, Landry's been playing the role for a while and inflating his production. But if we take the next step on offense, Parker will be the number one and Jarvis's numbers will go down to a more healthy level. If that's what Gase wants, how do you justify paying Landry like that? And if that happens and we wait on an extension (with the tag as leverage), I can see Landry getting upset like Cruz that the team didn't want to throw him the ball to drive his value down.

I'm giving the FO a pass no matter what they do here, because there are no easy answers.

First let's debunk this ridiculous notion that because Landry plays the majority of his snaps in the slot that he isn't worth the value of a perimeter WR in today's game.

The base defense in the NFL has become the Nickel, especially for 4 man front schemes. That's happened b/c offenses in 2017 spent 66% of their time in 3 or more WR sets with 60% of that in 11 personnel. Miami alone in '17 used 3 or more WR sets 81% of their snaps and 74% of those snaps were in 11 personnel. And before we move on and while we're talking snap count percentages, Landry played in 94% of the the Dolphins' total snaps for '17.

The slot position is no longer some offensive niche or the 3rd receiver on the team. The slot is a full time starter just like the other two perimeter receivers. Not only that the slot is the most versatile position to create mismatches all over the field. It requires them to not only be exceptional pass catchers and route runners, but at times they also have more complex pre and especially post snap responsibilities being that they face a slew of different defenders and coverages while navigating the middle of the field. They are also an important part in helping the QB ID coverages thru motion.

Since the slot WR replaces a TE or RB in the formation, in most cases it also helps remove a run defender in the defensive front. Though you still can't run effectively without your receivers blocking, particularly the slot, and Landry is also one of the most unselfish and effective receivers in that area as well. Let's not forget his value on special teams as well when and if the time calls for it.

Landry has proved he is one of the best slot receivers in the game. In other words, he is one the best chess pieces in the NFL and a very valuable commodity to our offense along with the great chemistry he has developed with Tannehill. That type of QB/WR bond doesn't happen overnight and does requires years of reps to build that trust. It'd be idiotic to let that slip away.

The cap rises every year; he is one of our very own; he is a special player; pay the man the damn money he has earned.

Insert mike drop.

Boom. Sign him.

Outstanding post. Might be the most grounded in reality post in this thread.

Add-in Gase commitment to the running game with Ajai 2-25 touches and touches at the TE position consequently Juice's touches are going to go down.
Touches = $$$$

Definitely a hard decision for the front office about the number.

Facts are facts regardless of opinion and Jarvis caught all those balls these past 3 years, bad routes, great routes, too many opportunities on a bad team whatever facts are he still caught those balls. So go ahead put your opinions, spins on it whatever but the facts are the facts.

Love Landry but if we are just talking about the facts ^ then the fact is he's not a top 5 WR and as such, shouldn't be paid like one.

Give him 10-12th best money and I'm with it.
