Training Camp opens 7/26

I'll be in Tarpon Springs from the 30th of July to August 6th. I am thinking about making the drive with my wife to Fort Lauderdale one day to go to TC. Back when I was single and in my early 20's I used to fly down to SFl every year because I couldn't wait for the season to start ato get a glimpse of our team.

Ever since they scaled back the practice from those two a days I didn't have the same interest.

Anyone familiar with the route for the Clearwater area to Fort Lauderdale? Is it an easy scenic drive or am I looking at a lot of sh*tty traffic. I assume I'd be going on a week day, spend the night on Las Olas somewhere and then head to Davie for a morning practice.

Rookies start July 20, vets 27th

Adam Gase is summonsing Miami’s 21 rookies to the team’s Baptist Health Training Facility on July 20, taking advantage of a league rule that allows an early start for first-year players. They are allowed to be in the building for meetings before the veterans arrive.

The veterans’ report date will come six days later. The first practice of camp will presumably be July 27, two full weeks ahead of Miami’s preseason opener against Atlanta.

Well there won't be any real scenic views along the way on the 4 hour drive really- (that or I have made the drive enough its just boring to me)... the traffic should't be that bad ... sometimes they practice early in the am so might want to stay a little closer to Davie unless you have no issues getting up early and over there, definitely more to do on Las Olas vs Davie though.

Ghost, you could come down and stay at the Hard Rock in Hollywood, FL. You could do a little gambling, get some sun by the pool and go check out the Dolphin's practice which is a 12 minute drive from the Hotel. One night you could go to the Fountainbleau Hotel on South Beach and go to Club Liv where all the stars and athletes hang out. I'm based down here so let me know how I can help you.

Now that sounds like a plan :thumbsup

Somewhere Jordan Phillips is having a staredown with a Twinkie..."Five mo' weeks mutha ****er!"

I live in St. Pete and have made that drive several times. It's actually not a bad route. Not all that scenic but wide open interstate that will slow down around Port Charlotte area and again at Ft. Meyers, depending on the time of day. There is some scenery as you travel across ocean waters at all the major cities. St. Pete, Bradenton, Port Charlotte & Ft. Meyers.

I would time it to avoid rush hour at the bigger cities. One thing you don't want to do is be driving through the Miami area between 6-9 am or 3-6 pm. Traveling from Tarpon Springs to get on 275 can be a pain as one of the few routes is US19 but I would leave around 9am as it frees up a bit around Pinellas County. That puts you in Sarasota at 10:30am, Port Charlotte at 11:30, Ft. Meyers at 12:10pm and Ft. Lauderdale at 2:10pm....just ahead of rush hour traffic. Not sure what time of day camp starts.

Last time I came back from the Keys, I did about 110 all the way across Alligator Alley in my new Challenger. People fly on these roads. I like it.

I'll have my sixth month old son with me so I definitely be driving like an old man. I'm certainly excited to take him to south Florida for the first time. He won't have a clue where he is but he will still proudly be drooling I. His Jarvis Landry onesy.

I am taking his to the Dolphins-Eagles preseason game in Philly too. By 2019 he might start to realize what he's watching just our current squad is turning into a dynasty.

Thanks for the advice guys. Certainly looking forward to my trip even more. My wife loves Fort Lauderdale so I definitely plan on staying there.

Sounds like it'll be a good trip, but your 5 other month old sons might get a little jealous. :p

Haha ya I definitely don't have sextuplets. I couldn't even imagine that. I wanted twins and my wife thought I was nuts.

I'll take one more in a year or two and we are set. Everyone keeps joking with me "what if he becomes a Jets, Eagles or Pats fan" and I assure everyone there is zero chance. I mean zero.
