Every year at this time I start getting excited. No matter how dire the situation, no matter how terrible previous year had ended, no matter how foolish we looked thru the off-season activities Ive always foolishly convinced myself that I have reason to be hopeful...This time there's a real reason to be excited, there's real hope and that hope is backed by real actual facts and performance. Its legitimate hope which is what brings me to where im at right now. I can't accurately describe how aggravated I am with how slow time is passing! Normally im excited and anxious for the season to start but its different this time. I really can't wait. Im constantly watching last years games over and over again. Im searching for each and every tidbit of Dolphins news or articles like a dope been. Ive even lifted my "Omar" ban and started watching his videos and reading his articles. The articles don't piss me off nearly as much as actually seeing him and his impossibly annoying mannerisms (OMG when he rolls his eyes or laughs and smirks at a positive comment I want to throw my phone thru the wall and hope that it somehow hits him in the face). But ya im even watching his stuff just to get a fix. Ive never been as excited about a season as I am this one and im 39 so that includes the Marino era. I just don't know how to make it through the next 60 days. Is anyone else feeling as impatient as I am? This is torture

If you remember the Marino era...your more excited now than you were in 1985 coming off our 2nd year QB's MVP season, shattering long standing records....and a Superbowl loss?

Its different today the excitement level is higher for me because I have access to more information. I was 10 in '85 and in the UK... Back then I got updates once a week by sneaking in to watch the weekly highlight show that aired at 2am. Got busted a few times too but it was worth it...

I'm still cautiously optimistic; we've seen the good year followed by the flop so many times. It feels different because the team seems to be doing things the right way. When was the last time we've "taken care of our own" instead of signing big name free agents? My confidence will be higher in 2018 if we can somehow put together consecutive winning seasons.

I'm always excited for the season to start in the Summer. As far as being excited for expectations, I don't have the enthusiasm as I had during the Shula years. Always felt we had a shot when he was on the sidelines. Taking Shula out of the equation, I guess you could say my level is as high as far back as the early 2000's. Just don't believe we can hang wit the pats, so a jumbled battle for the wild card is our best shot. I don't think we are there yet as far as the roster is concerned. If we can keep it rolling from last years success and better the roster, 2018 will have me on the edge of seat by the time Summer rolls around.

The RE are a lot of reasons to be exited!

Great post OP, don't let anyone shortchanged your enthusiasm. Judging by how well we played last year on e the team fully grasped the new systems, you are right to be super excited for this season. I am too!

After those Initial 5 games of the learning curve we had a lot of players really start to excel. Tannehill stopped throwing picks and threw a lot of TD"s, What I proved that the J-train is beastly when he gets blocking. Tunsil lived up to the hype. Stills played very well and Parker looked excellent in spurts when healthy. Wake came back with a vengeance. Suh lived up to his contract. Maxwell healed up and played quite a few very good games. Kilo produced takeaways.

And all of this was while suffering one of the worst waves of I jury in the entire league. Guys we added or who got healthier and feel like new additions include Reshad Jones, Mike Pouncey (maybe), DeVante Parker (finally), Charles Harris, William Hayes, Raekwon McMillan, Lawrence Timmons, TJ McDonald, For free Tankersley, Julius Thomas, Anthony Fasano, and Isaac Asiata.

And all we lost was Brandon Albert, Dion Sims, Jordan Cameron, Mari0 Williams, Earl Mitchell, and IAQ.

No matter how you slice it, that is a huge talent upgrade with all the key players returning to a system they now know.

Excited foe this year to start? Yes, yes I am.

I'm as excited as ever because we've suffered for so long now. When I was a kid I expected us to win, make the playoffs, and be a contender....recent years I've been hoping more for a patriots plane crash or just for the fins not to get embarrassed on MNF. This year feels way difeerent than those ones.

Hopefully AG's vision of playing with a lead comes to fruition early on this year. Last year we trailed 56% of the time (10th worst in the league) and played with a lead only 29% of the time.

It's called 'hope" lol. Usually we are fooling ourselves this time of year into a false sense of it. This year there actually is hope.

well if you were 10 in 1985 (32 years ago) and you're 39 years old now, i think i see the problem.

time just moves slower for you than the rest of the world.

I just think the team is far enough along, particularly on the defense side of the ball. In addition to the Pats you have a team like the Raiders or KC etc. were just not at that level and we have some room for growth and experience by playing in more high level games.

It wouldn't suprise me to see the team take a little step back this year but if we can get the defense going between this year and next then I think we might have something.

All that being side the direction seems positive and we may have some consistency forming on offense, so I wont he that deterred if we take a little step back this year. Its a process.
