This time it's different...

It wasn't until Marino retired that i knew anything about being a fan of a bad team. First it was "So this is what it's like to not have a HOF QB"....but still a mostly winning team. Then Wannstedt started to falter and it was all over. The excitement was different before then because you expected to be good every year.

The excitement this year is backed by decades of futility, and coming out of it. A potential for excellent offense again, really good QB play and skill players. Alot of us knew this was possible since seeing Tannehill's first season - he is easily our best chance for a real air attack since Marino.

So yeah, i get it, even for those that saw Marino play

i was just having fun above- i feel same way/ HURRY UP 2017 season!

re this:
Last year we trailed 56% of the time (10th worst in the league) and played with a lead only 29% of the time.
we played with the lead 62.5% of
the time in the last 10 seconds of games. keep on!

I'm always excited for the season to start, and anybody who knows me knows my deep love for the fins... but my friend mentioned the other day "I havn't seen you this excited about the dolphins ever" is it September yet?

I just can't get excited like I did year after year since 1970
If we over achieve that will be great but I still think we're
a bit away from making a huge splash

30th in offensive time of possession

23rd in yards after the catch allowed

30th in "3 and out drives"

32nd in the least amount of offensive plays

31st in1st down Differential
our offense has produced 97 first downs
and allowed 128 first downs for a terrible -31differential
Arizona leads the NFL with a +33 differential

32nd in
Run Efficiency Ratio, This ratio gives you the number of rushing yards a team generates for each rushing yard they give up.

32nd in ten play or more drives

most all the "bad" stats have to do with the fins ability to move the ball quickly downfield. we were a quick strike big play offense and had ability to come back in games.

we werent possessing ball long, racking up first downs. i agree want to be better at that, but its not like the O was futile.

If you remember the Marino era...your more excited now than you were in 1985 coming off our 2nd year QB's MVP season, shattering long standing records....and a Superbowl loss?

Yes, I was 4 at that time...always one guy who has to be a smartass. Jeez

well if you were 10 in 1985 (32 years ago) and you're 39 years old now, i think i see the problem.

time just moves slower for you than the rest of the world.

Dude check the people who are writing the replies. Its not the same person. My god some of you just look for the negative in everything. If you don't like the post move on. Need to get smacked in my opinion but whatever

It feels like there's real reason for excitement with all the pieces we have in place right now. Sure, there are still question marks and players that need to meet expectations, but at this point it's hard not to have a sense of optimism with AG at the helm and the way the players responded to him last year.

It's all about Gase for me. Last year he didn't have the high expectations that he will this year though. He capitalized on last years debut by changing the culture. He sent strong messages by leaving Ajayi home for Seattle and benching his #1 cb in Maxwell as examples IMHO.

The RE are a lot of reasons to be exited!

Great post OP, don't let anyone shortchanged your enthusiasm. Judging by how well we played last year on e the team fully grasped the new systems, you are right to be super excited for this season. I am too!

After those Initial 5 games of the learning curve we had a lot of players really start to excel. Tannehill stopped throwing picks and threw a lot of TD"s, What I proved that the J-train is beastly when he gets blocking. Tunsil lived up to the hype. Stills played very well and Parker looked excellent in spurts when healthy. Wake came back with a vengeance. Suh lived up to his contract. Maxwell healed up and played quite a few very good games. Kilo produced takeaways.

And all of this was while suffering one of the worst waves of I jury in the entire league. Guys we added or who got healthier and feel like new additions include Reshad Jones, Mike Pouncey (maybe), DeVante Parker (finally), Charles Harris, William Hayes, Raekwon McMillan, Lawrence Timmons, TJ McDonald, For free Tankersley, Julius Thomas, Anthony Fasano, and Isaac Asiata.

And all we lost was Brandon Albert, Dion Sims, Jordan Cameron, Mari0 Williams, Earl Mitchell, and IAQ.

No matter how you slice it, that is a huge talent upgrade with all the key players returning to a system they now know.

Excited foe this year to start? Yes, yes I am.

Dude, you hit it on the mark!!

Look at the mixture of young and older talent.

We have 5 top 100 players not including most likely our best player in a year or 2 in Tunsil.

We're talented as hell. Upgrades at the Lbing corp, safety position, TEs, and adding a nasty young pass rusher should make us fans super excited.

We went 10-6 and added talent without losing much but Albert who is replaced.

Great Head Coach, a "real" team coming together, and experience playing with each other should keep us between 9-11 wins.

We now have the best Run stopping De, best blocking TE, Seam threat TE, young defensive talent, and our injured players being back alone will make this team better.

We should all be very optimistic and not like past seasons.

There's a new feeling down in Davie. Gase will NOT accept failure. We're in great hands guys!!

PHINS UP!!

When you look at the AFC there are a lot of teams that could make the playoffs.

I feel like it's New England and then a step down to maybe 5-8 teams. Miami is in that next group. I think the Dolphins match-up well against the other top teams like Oakland, Pittsburgh, Kansas City and Houston. I'd certainly feel confident with any of those opponents assuming Miami is healthier than last year.

4 (Ajayi, Wake, Suh, Landry), but who's counting.

I know lol

I was including reshad just because I think he's a top 100 player with ease.

I think he's our 1st or 2nd best player.

Technically you're correct brother.

PHINS UP!!!
