Dolphins safety and special teams captain Michael Thomas. (Allen Eyestone / The Palm Beach Post)

Thomas’ versatility to play nickel corner and safety was a factor last season, although it was on special teams where he earned his raise. It doesn’t hurt that he’s among the most tireless players on the team (perhaps in the league) when it comes to pitching in with community service.

I've always liked Michael Thomas since his interception of Brady. Although, not an ideal safety, and don't want him there without another strong safety, he would do fine with Jones for a few games. Yes, his strength is special teams.

Hopefully, we're healthy through 8 games at the safety position so TJ McDonald can rotate in to the mix - I'd rather give as few snaps to Michael Thomas at safety as possible. Interesting to hear that he loves the nickle, hopefully he can provide some good competition for McCain and one or the other steps up cause our nickle coverage was and has been pretty pathetic (as we all know).

Michael Thomas is a really good backup. He makes great plays in limited action but gets exposed in a lot of action. He busts his ass and is a good guy to have in the locker room.

For someone who wasn't gifted with reshad type size and overall talent, you have to love this guy.

Michael Thomas truly cares about SFLA youth and dedicates his life to helping others.

It seems at EVERY Dolphins event Mike is there to help the community.

Class act and works as hard as anyone. Special teams Ace!!!

PHINS UP!! The season is coming!!
