Haters toughened up Tannehill, says teammate who uses the word ‘elite’ when describing him

If you're basing your evaluations on a straw poll that players spend about 20 minutes to complete then you're probably doing it wrong. You think Rob Gronkowski put a lot of thought into his list?

Alex Smith made the list (81). Does that make him elite with his 15 TD's and 8 picks?

Here is what we (most) know....

Tannehil AND the offense struggled as they implemented a brand new offense for 6 weeks.

The light turned on and Tannehill led a team that won 7 of his remaining 8 games where the QB had an average QB rating over 100 (102.7).

Matt Moore was Matt Moore. No better, no worse and certainly not as good as the starter.

No one called him elite. Read the article, he said he's taking steps towards being one. But every time there's a Tannehill thread you just have to pop in and ramble off more negative nonsense, don't you?
That's the problem, he doesn't read enough to know better.

Miami was ahead 21-9 when Tannehill went out. The Cardinals rallied in the 4th to tie the score at 21-21 and Moore led them to a winning field goal. Now if Tannehill did the same thing would you be saying he won the game or he nearly lost the game after Moore left him with a 12 point lead?

I WOULD SAY OUR DEFENSE PLAYED LIKE SH!*

it strange how some fan get mad when you know a player is not elite but they want say he is. if thill17 was he would be in top 100. he would be top 10. I want dolphins to win but I am not going boost player up if I know he is not all that. yes Ryan improved but so did Mat Moore. so what ur point. some of yall are trying give thill17 mvp without playing down. I want our qb to be elite but I am not sure he is avg???

I was following along with you at first, because yes he has not shown himself to be a top 5 QB yet (to avoid or define "elite")...but then you say you are not sure he is Average? I'm sure he is above average, looking forward to this year to see him take it further...can only speculate what that will be at end of year, but closer to that top 5 I think.

I really dislike the whole elite or not elite debate... it's so subjective. Everyone has a different definition of what is elite. If you think an elite qb will at minimum be considered for the Hall-of Fame based on their career work, I think we would all agree if Tannehill announced his retirement today he's not going to be considered for a bust in Canton. However if your definition is a qb that can make big plays and win games if given league average amount of protection and defensive support than Tannehill can be that. The whole elite or not elite is nonsense. Let's just say he's our qb, he's pretty damn good when surrounded with decent players and he's good enough to win games in NFL. Is my tv elite? Who knows? It works, I like the picture, it's big enough for me and it gets the job done effectively for my needs. That's all I need to know. The elite or not question is meaningless unless I just want to waste my time wondering what other people think of my tv.
This. I always disliked the whole "elite" thing. When did that start anyway?

There's really only one poster that's making an accusation that others are saying Tannehill is elite, and then make an argument that he's not when nobody said he was. Kind of an argument within himself, but a lot of us can't help ourselves and jump in.

All things point to a better Tannehill. Coach makes a huge difference. Some of Ryans deficiencies still exist under Gase but to a lesser degree. As stated by Gase, Tannehill needs to not take the checkdown so often and has to stop going through his progressions until he gets sacked. A more competative Tannehill hopefully translates to playoffs.

Top 100 is based on the ONE previous years performance. You honestly believe a player is defined as "elite" based on ONE year?

Seriously, your posts display ignorant analysis that show short sided views and lack of any semblance of fact. Quit creating an argument out of thin air and accusing everyone else of coming up with it. Just stop.

I'm pretty over the term "elite"
Every year there's at least 3-4 teams in the playoffs who fans, experts, and "experts" would say they have QB's who are "not elite", but alas, they're playing in the postseason.

You guys are funny as hell lol

I could watch these arguments all day.

I think the consensus is Tannehill is an above average Qb with an "elite" skillset.

Yes, I hate the word elite as well.

Skip Bayless seemed to be the starter of the term. (Could be wrong)

Ryan's our QB and a damn good one.

I have a good feeling Tannehill shows the league he's legit. (hope he proves us right)

He had a better QB rating than SB Champs Wilson, Eli, Flacco, Rivers, Stafford, Dalton, Alex Smith, Tyrod, Palmer, Winston, Wentz, etc..

He's the real deal. This year should show people what we all already know.

PHINS UP!!!

Of course Tannehilli is not elite, he's not even average. He's %*@&ing "BELOW" average!

He's ranked by just about every single pro football writer, evaluator, and fan between 18-22! That's "BELOW" average!

He's really not that good guys, let's hope Gase molds him into something special.

"He's not even average" is absolute ****ing rubbish and you know it.

You're probably the Fantasy Football fan and NFL Red Zone fan who looks at the game from a merely statistical standpoint and thinks that watching highlight videos of players on youtube makes you a football film expert. There are thousands of you in every fanbase and you all love to outwardly express your flawed rhetoric. But go on! Tell me more.
