Restructure Timmons's Contract

I wouldn't say no incentive. He made the mistake. Plus, we could sue him for breach of contract, couldn't we? Then we keep him on the non football injury list for two years, we'd get the money back towards the cap and he'd get nothing. He signed a contract which stated he has to play on Sundays. He broke the contract. Legally speaking, that's indisputable.

Depends on what exactly happened. I thought I had heard he showed up Sunday morning and wanted to play, and it was the organization that felt like his mind wasn't in the right place. To be honest, I doubt the Fins have enough standing to be able to essentially void Timmons's contract.

I wonder if there are any clauses in the contract that would eliminate guaranteed money. There were in Dion Jordan's contract but it was a league suspension. He gave up a lot when he got suspended. Not sure if the same holds true for conduct detrimental and team suspensions.

Yes a breach of contract with the team, standard clause in a contract in the NFL. Suspending Timmons enacts that clause waives guaranteed money away.
Standard clause in a NFL contract. Guaranteed money isn't truly guaranteed if you don't behave.

Then again the clause is pretty simple, don't bring harm to the NFL, don't harm your team, don't beat your wife, don't kill your neighbor etc. etc. etc.

A simple DUI can waive guaranteed money and the Comissioner can void it by himself.

It could be some kind of mental breakdown or a family issue, we don't know. These guys are still human beings, have some compassion.
Family issue, you call or text your boss.
Mental break down, when asked whether he is in the facility, Gase gave a short irritated "No idea" answer. It doesn't sound like someone is worthy of mental breakdown compassion.

He gets docked pay for suspension. That's good enough until he either gets back on the field and earns the paycheck or hits the road. My money is on back for Titans game, because do you really want to take a guy that just had a meltdown to London? Plus that's ample time suspended so he's not getting off easy, which Gase doesn't appear interested in allowing.

I meant, these guys have scrambled eggs for brains. The guy has played 10 years in the league and just goes AWOL for the first time? I know you guys are fans of the Dolphins first, but this seems like something isn't right in his head.

But, yes, knowing what we know now, I agree with the suspension.

What are you not getting? We are not talking about playing we are talking about picking up a freaking phone for a 10 second call. Other than alien abduction there is no reason you can't make a call.

Well, we know what happened and I admitted that I agree with the suspension, so why don't you read the remainder of the forum before you get so bent out of shape? Calm down and take a deep breath, everything is going to be okay.
