Could it be that our first 3 picks are use on the same positions as we did in the 2017 draft? I think it's very possible. Do I even need to explain a pick for a LB? OK, so how about Corner? Maxwell is gone after this year. Lippeet will be coming back from major surgery. Howard played like crap on Sunday and Tank didn't even dressed. Btw, not giving up on Howard. Corners take a couple of years but there's no doubt we can use another Corner. DE? Well, I think Harris is more raw than I thought but even if he starts to come around we have to keep on mind that Wake is not getting any younger, Branch while a hard worker, he's just pretty much average and Hayes who actually played good on Sunday is on a ONE year contract. I'm not saying that we would use the 3 picks in the same order but those are 3 positions that we'll have to address once again.

Ozzy rules!!

Can we play at least two games before this talk starts?

It's possible considering our entire 2017 draft class had no impact whatsoever in the game on Sunday. It doesn't look like any of them are in a position to significantly contribute this year. Our 5th rounder Godchaux will get snaps, but that's primarily due to the lack of depth at the DT position. We really need to get rid of Tannenbaum first though, but that's a topic for another thread.

As long as it's in the draft forum, it's fine, and not entirely inaccurate. It takes a couple years to build a good LB corps and we've only invested 1 year into it. How much does Wake have left in the tank? Even if Harris turns into an All-Pro, DE will still be a need. I'd swap "corner" with "FS," though. Those three are going to be needs regardless of how the year plays out. Add Guard and TE on the other side of the ball. Even if Asiata turns into an All-Pro, we'll still need another and we've neglected TE for years, just like LB.

The teams' weak spots could be different by the end of the season, but even if Charles Harris develops Miami will need another pass rusher.

Corner looks pretty obvious as well and it would be nice to find a complete linebacker and an offensive guard/center type. Add in a tight end and there you have it.

I'd rather build the foundations of our defense on a real and proven DC and go from there.

Pouncey isn't a lock to be here next year so we could need both. Matt Moore will be a free agent, Tannehill and his knee situation, you shouldn't omit QB, we need help at DT, we could use a rangy free safety considering Jones and McDonald aren't really that..... basically we need everything.

It's a little more of a rebuild than fans realize. Adam Gase set the bar high with an unexpected playoff berth in his first year, but there are a lot of needs on this team. And that's not even counting potential free agent losses such as maybe Pouncey.

One thing about the NFL hasn't changed in 50 years and that's the fact that you win in the trenches. Miami hasn't been good enough on the offense line for probably 20 years. That's been a sore spot for as long as I can remember. And I still think the team needs a physical DT next to Suh, although I'll wait and see with the rooks.

Building the back seven is obvious as well. McMillan coming back will help, but TImmons could be traded after this season or cut. Not sure about his cap hit.

Good point on quarterback. I think if Miami ends up picking pretty high that will be a consideration.

The TE position is a bigger need for Miami than people are thinking. Adam Gase clearly favors Y-ISO alignments and those aren't working very well for us when we're putting guys like Dion Sims, Anthony Fasano, MarQueis Gray, or even Julius Thomas into the formation. A genuine do-it-all TE (athletic mismatch in man, good hands, available in zone, good run after catch) who could be anything other than a complete disaster in blocking could really go a long way for this offense.

In the 1st round, the easy ones are Mark Andrews and Mike Gesicki. I've had the two of them spotted for two years.

Once you get beyond that area, I think you're looking to take a chance on some guys like Dallas Goedert, Adam Breneman, Ian Thomas, Cam Serigne.

Adam Breneman in particular, I could imagine a good set of workouts could vault him into conversation for 2nd or even 1st day contention. Maybe not actually in the 1st round, maybe just talked about, but it's within the realm of possibility. And of course, Dallas Goedert is a big wildcard because of where he plays (South Dakota State). If he turns out to be an uber-athlete in workouts, you never really know where he could land. He looks good on tape against the lower levels of competition they face.

I have liked Jeb Blazevich as well, though I am not sure he fits what Miami will want.

It is not that I dislike guys like Troy Fumagalli, though I have thought for the past year that Troy in particular has been a bit overrated, but I am trying to figure on what Miami in particular will want in place of a Julius Thomas.

I think we are ok at CB with a young core of Tank, X, and Tony. My priority would be grabbing a C/G, RB, another young speedy LB and then TE.

Well here we are in November and things have changed pretty dramatically. The trade of Ajayi makes running back a need. Gase can probably patch work that position and get by, but if one of the top running back falls to Miami in the first, like Guice, you'd have to think the team pounces. I think a more likely scenario is a back in the middle rounds, or free agency.

A near complete rebuild needs to happen on the offensive line. Tunsil may end up being the only returning starter, although Gase has said Pouncey is the best offensive lineman this year. I don't agree, but I don't have the coaches tape either or always know assignments. Maybe his play is down because the guards are so bad.

To the original OP, I'd still love to add pieces to the defense. I'm not sure about Howard, he's been up and down. I think a better pass rush would obviously make the secondary better, but the team doesn't have a great corner IMO.

I also think Miami could be in a perfect drafting spot to get another real good linebacker. Timmons has played very well, but I have to wonder if the Dolphins decide to let him go.

I think that drafting position/ need can be dangerous if you reach.... how about draft good solid ball players-- give me guys like Reuben Foster and Desmond King- all day.
