Timmons suspended indefinitely

That's just false, Football like all sports is part of the entertainment industry meaning the fans are the reason it exists, When a Coach makes a decision that puts the season in jeopardy the fans who spend good money on season tickets, sports memorabilia, watch the games and support the team have a right to know what happened. Football is not some greater cause like world hunger, curing diseases or world peace. Any decent organization would be holding a press conference real soon.

Buying season tickets only gives you a right to attend the games.

Buying sports memorabilia only gives you a right to own said memorabilia.

Watching the games and supporting the team is your choice on how to spend your free time, and there are no rights associated with such behavior.

As you said, sports is an entertainment industry, why would you think your choice of entertainment would give you any rights from the way that you choose to be entertained?

Does the Rock owe you anything because you go see Fast and Furious or watch Ballers on HBO? Of course not, and it would be absurd to believe otherwise.

Thats good that you like him, but ross loved philbin and liked sparano too...how much of a learning curve does he need to stop calling the same games almost every game? Nothing he's done has proven he's special, without all those wins given to us by other teams the last two years, he would be considered average, which is how he should be judged so far. All I'm saying is judge on what he's shown.

Ross obviously didn't like Sparano as evidenced by his awkward trip out west to recruit Harbough. He inherited Philbin vs having his "secret scout" hone in on Gase at which point he instructed Tannenbaum to deliver him. There's a big difference in how Ross came upon the first 2 vs how he is totally invested in Gase.

He's instilled a winner's mentality so that these games which were "given" to the Fins are really no different than the late 4th Qtr Seattle and Atlanta Superbowl games "given" to the Patriots. Same difference. The Fins are as entitled to those wins as the Pats those SB championships! He also enhanced the application of Tannehill's skill set .. but then again, it seems your mind is made up so we'll just have to agree to disagree. Again, there aren't many coaches in the league that I'd take ahead of Gase not named "Belicheat." And I suspect much of the league's front offices would jettison their HCs in a heartbeat if they had a shot at Gase.

Is it standard practice to file a missing persons report for when this effectively amounts to someone not showing up to work?
Sounds like the Dolphins were pretty pissed off by him ignoring the team and took it to the next level. Nothing wrong w/ being proactive w/ the situation either. It's not like this is an every day job w/ the no call, no show approach Timmons took.

I will never understand people who can only have binary thoughts. There is more than two outcomes here. Timmons can be suspended and come back after 2 or 3 or 4 games. or can be suspended and benched, suspended then released, or simply suit up next week and the team can act like nothing happened (unlikely but still an option). Point is TPTB have options Gase most likely takes lead on decision but I'm sure several FO peeps will have input especially Tannebaum as well. Quite frankly this whole debacle can be salvaged very easily. Number one he is already on the hook for missing one game thats a gimme for the FO, now depending on the severity of his AWOL (yes there several layers that can determine outcome, like personal issues vs. legal issues vs. i went crazy lalalala) If there never was a better opportunity to punishing a player vs. long term termination is a very fortuitous game against a heinously bad team like the Jets. The phins just showed out vs. a team that is very good not great in the Chargers while under duress due to unforeseen circumstances, and on the road. What better time to punish Timmons with a game suspension, take some not all of his guaranteed money a situation that won't be settled until weeks later anyway, it seems he tried to show contrition already by offering to play already, offer a carrot of we'll pay some of your lost pay of you behave going forward and prove a good soldier, Gase still shows he has the biggest pimp hand in the room just like he did with Ajayi, team still respects him, value even if diminished from Timmons is retained and you get a little depth from the Anthony trade that can be a long term boon if you straighten him out. Point there is a road that makes the outcome more palatable to everyone as long no one demands a pound of flesh to be the only outcome.

We have the facts for the most part. Timmons is a clown and when Miami traded for Anthony they essentially sealed Timmons fate. The facts are in and Timmons is done in Miami

Disagree.

Anthony is a run stopper replacing what we lost in McMillian and failed to get from Maualuga.

Who has the potential...properly coached and developed to be more than a run stopper in the future.

Timmons will get slapped hard, but will return.

He has a good history and deserves a 2nd Chance after punishment.

I agree Timmons should get a 2nd chance. We will suspend him and hurt his pocket. If he reacts well he can earn himself back on the field. It makes no sense to me to lose the money and the player. The money is mostly guaranteed

I agree that we do NOT have to kick Timmons to the curb. Make him sit out a couple games and if his mind is right, bring him back. Gase would have sent a message to the players that they have to be responsible for their actions. Bottom line is the Defense is better with Timmons in it. Unlike last year when the o-line was better AFTER he cut those two clowns.

I think releasing Timmons rewards him as it allows him to go play for someone else and make MONEY. On the flip side he'd likely have an issue with the NFLPA if we IR'ed him and we probably can't afford a roster spot to leave him inactive every week.

The LB situation is dire, I know Gase has to do what he thinks is best for the team but we need this guy. I would re-evaluate Timmons in 4 weeks and allow him to resume playing if he seems sincere. I still don't think 11 years of 100% dependability should be completely overlooked here.

Since we all don't know what happened we just speculate.
Here is a speculation:
Since Timmons had a pretty stern reputation in the NFL and no crazy episodes I would think it was initially a team internal thing. Since the players pretty much stood behind Timmons I would probably put my finger on a lack of practice performance with a subsequent team demotion for the first game - kinda like J Train last year for our first game in Seattle. J Train was pouty and he was left home. That option did not exist and Timmons may just have overreacted and made things worse. Hurt pride.

In an organizational structure there is nothing worse than not showing to work related activities. Gase has to be stern on that and set an example. I would think that he is going to be suspended for 2 or 3 games. Right now would be the time before the meat of our schedule. Let him prove himself in practice, locker room and in meetings and he will be back. The 500,000 plus they will cut him in pay will also be painful to him.

He'll be fine. We'll be fine.

Look around the league man, good players aren't getting cut left and right when they get thenselves suspended. A suspension does send a message while also greatly improving your team.

This - seems pretty clear cut to me. the dude screwed up, so you suspend him. Players know you aren't messing around and also are willing to hold everyone accountable. He sits a few games and comes back. Discipline executed, player retained.

I would think so considering that it is a business trip and the team is responsible for the players on said trip. I would imagine that they used every way to try to contact him including the emergency contacts list that every employer requires an employee to complete. After you have exhausted every method, the police should get involved as soon as possible.

This is ridiculous! Makes too much sense!

That said, I'd prefer him gone as long as we don't have to eat million$.
