We don't know if it hurts our draft unless he just completely bombs and his contribution is less than what you'd reasonably expect from a 5th rounder.

Saying it hurts the cap is ridiculous when we don't know what he will bring to the table. The Saints have a slight history of players leaving and going on to other teams and producing. Perhaps he is one of those players?

Sure he was a 1st rounder but wasn't it at the END of the 1st round (31st)? That contract isn't that big.

No, this was watching him play at Clemson. He has ZERO instincts, when he does read it he gets there and gets there quick.

I don't care about tackle stats with LBs.

Kiko was all rookie too, but he's proven to be more hype than substance.
 
But the hoopla over a 5th round pick is hilarious.

Just because Miami has Jones, doesn't mean a 5th is somehow sacred. You won't get that kind of athlete in the 5th..It's worth a flyer..Even though I'm not a fan of him i'd still root for him to be good for Miami.

His contract is very cheap..

a 5th doesn't hurt anyone's draft.

Jones and Ajayi. But I agree you won't find player better then Anthony in the 5th. He's a good athlete which we can utilize I think

I forget Ajayi is a 5th sometimes.

Yes Miami is good at finding gems, but with 3! 7th rounders we can move back into the 5th if we need too next draft..Or give them all away for Derwin James LOL.

Name an undrafted player besides Wake (which was what, 9 years ago?) who's better than Jones, Ajayi, or Lippett.
The 5th round has been our bread and butter.

The 10 tackles Hull had gets disregarded (even though most were near the LOS ... and the Chargers rushed for how many yards?), but the 110 Anthony had on a defense THAT NEVER GOT OFF THE FIELD impresses you? I've seen them both play plenty. Give me Hull 10 out of 10 times, run or pass.

Anthony is also abysmal in coverage so I'm not seeing much of an upgrade here. Do we even have a defensive coach in the building capable of salvage projects? Not getting this one at all. Desperation is not a good look and the odds typically aren't in your favor.

A 5th doesn't hurt anyone? Why is it that I keep having to remind DOLPHIN FANS of this especially. Zach Thomas, Reshad Jones, Chris Clemons, Nolan Carroll, Bobbie McCain, Jay Ajayi, Tony Lippett and now Davon Godchaux. All guys who either start, started or are major contributors to the Dolphins. 5th round has been better to the Dolphins than the 1st round.

From all I've read, it seems that Stephone Anthony is a physical freak, who is best at MLB, but is weak at quarterbacking the defense.

So maybe keep Stephone Anthony at MLB, and have Kiko QB the defense.

As well, a candid assessment from Sean Payton in the same ESPN article that sums it up:

"He's explosive, he's disruptive and yet his key-and-diagnose and his instincts at times are off," Saints coach Sean Payton said in a blunt and candid assessment of Anthony last year. "It's run, and he's dropping back in a pass mode. Or it's pass, and he's at the line of scrimmage. His ability to see and diagnose some very simple reads, for instance, are the keys for him getting better.

"That's been the thing that's kept him back. And quite honestly, it's kept him back on special teams [too]. Because a player like him who is on special teams, if he's covering a kick or covering a punt, generally a guy that can run and hit shows up. And he's been, I would say, just OK in that area."

Lippett wouldn't be a factor on a team with good corners, McCain is pretty close to terrible and has been since he's been here, Nolan Carroll is average at best, Clemons is out of football, Godchaux is all TC hype with zero substance yet.

Reshad Jones is a beast, but he plays a position that isn't hard to find good players in.

Ajayi i'll give you, he's the best pure RB in the NFL.

I love Sean Payton like the next guy, but his defenses have been terrible and it's why he may be fired soon.
