Timmons suspended indefinitely

I love how you sugar coated everything gase has done so far and ignored everything i said to build a weak argument, hilarious. "Underdog team", had some talent for sure which he had no idea of obviously by benching ajayi and maybe wanted traded for nothing, what he did to ajayi was just to push him around cuz ajayi knew he had earned the starting job, gase was just trying to come in and push people around to show he was tough, only fake guys do that, you don't know what happened with timmons so stop writing stupid things that are meant to sound tough when you don't even know if his reaction was justified. Gase opened up nothing, he has called 75-90% of his games in both seasons very Philbin like, love how you ignored that part too, how convenient. I've got plenty of understanding of what he had/has, too bad he never did/does, neither do you obviously.

Gase was gifted 3-5 wins over the last two years he DESERVED to lose, like i said........., he has proven to be average in what he's deserved to win so far and very below avg in his decision making, I'm sure you defended Philbin and Sparano in the beginning too making up endless nonsense about why their blatant incompetence wasn't just that....yawn.

I think the reaction to your post(s) vs. the reaction to mine tells the story dolphinlifer. I don't understand your obvious disdain for Gase. Is he perfect? No. Am I very impressed with what he has done in just over a year here? Heck yes, as is nearly everyone with a pulse, including the media. Underdog team had talent for sure? The OL was a total mess until he overhauled it by getting rid of his predecessors' trash. The entire roster is about a 2-3 year makeover from being championship (not even SB) worthy. Weaknesses at DB, LB, OL & DL all stood directly in his path when he took over, and Miami is 10-2 in their last 12 regular season games. Were some of them close, and some even lucky? Yes and yes. But don't tell me there isn't a difference between a culture that finds a way to win those games vs. constantly lose them as we have done for over a decade. It's completely your prerogative to be anti-Gase, which you clearly are (don't sugar coat that one fella)... but I just don't get it. He's the best thing this franchise has going for it, or has had in a long time.

There absolutely is a culture. The team we beat Sunday and last year has just the opposite, they find a way to lose just about every close game. Was there anyone here not thinking that as the end unfolded? I mean sure when the kicker lined up I had thought they'd done it but before that the fact the find a way to lose was definitely on my mind.

I initially lost all faith in Timmons and would be have been happy to see him removed from the team.

In light of some of the posts I've read, I now wonder if we could use this event to force him to restructure his contract. I see some advantages to both parties if this occurs.

The loss for Timmons would be what he has already incurred financially, possibly more, plus it would represent an undisputed display of contrition that is more than just verbiage. The gain for the Dolphins is a demonstration of enforcing its teams policies in clear, unequivocal terms, yet still allows them to retain a player they originally felt was worth getting. Fair needs to be fair for both sides.

The end results are the player showing contriteness by accepting a restructured contract for less money, while management has defended their "no tolerance " policy in the clearest terms possible to him, the team and the entire league. This would also have the effect of convincing the NFL commissioner that he does not need to intervene, which I understand would be within his rights in this circumstance.

This would not tie the Dolphins hands in the future for taking measures they see as necessary if another event happens with any rule breaking by players, and more importantly, lets the players know the extent the team is willing to go to in order to assure that their rules are followed. It also sets a pattern of reaction that fans can expect to see under the leadership of Gase and this front office.

Why do some of you think restructuring is an option? It’s not, number 1 to restucture a contract both parties have to agree to it. Not going to happen here because it means Timmons loses money to make you the fan happy that he got punished. 2nd NFLPA won’t let it happen sets bad precedent, contracts are only restructured if it benefits both parties like extensions or deferred money or in the event of you’re going to get cut and make no money but this is only an option if the cap is less painful than the actual contract and not the case here. Timmons is not going to leave money on the table no matter good guy or not guilt or not. The only punitive actions the Dolphins an take are suspensions and fines and both are subject to appeal and the either honor the contract or take the cap hit.

Why not broach the subject to his agent and see what happens? Timmons is at the end of his career and if he sees a possibility for an extra year or two of playing time it would be worth a short term loss for what he could earn over the extra playing time. It could prove to be a good business move on his part and financially to his advantage IF he feels he could play effectively for a few more years. I suspect most successful NFL players feel that way.

I don't have Twitter or whatever but I just got a BR Update that Gase said he's unsure if he will let Timmons back on the team. No link I'm on mobile

Well......

This could turn out like Ajayi. He got pissed, and he got smacked. Then he shaped up, got with the program, and turned into an animal.

While Timmons' transgression is a bit more serious, one way or the other I'd say he got the message 5X5.

If he is properly contrite and earns his way back, it'll be just in time. About game 4 or so. Kinda like Ajayi.....

Ajayi responded well to Gase's disciplinary tactics. Will be interesting to see if Timmons does as well. If not, he's likely gone.

Ball is in his court.
