Dolphins trade for Saints LB Stephone Anthony

Yes we've found some good players in the 5th round and lower and we've also found plenty in the 1st round that sucked........if this guy becomes a starter on merit then a 5 is a bargain. If he becomes a starter by default and makes no plays at all then we gave up too much but we won't know that yet. We need to give him a chance and see what happens. I'm not a fan of T-baum but I'm not upset about this one move. I'm way more upset about the deal to get Carroo. That one really made no sense at that time and it still doesn't.

Ozzy rules!!

Yup, im thinking he migt get released also...

Yeah I think that might be what this is all about. That and not liking hull which I don't blame them for as anything more than a 2 deep.

Not that I'm expecting this dude to play good ball. Instincts at mike separate jags and eye sores from difference makers and he doesn't have them. It's like ramik Wilson who provided he can see the play in front of him looks ok but overall he leaves you trading picks for guys like they did acquiring the bills backer. It's marginal type stuff that you always look to replace.

If he blows assignments cause he's not smart enough he won't be on the field long.

We will just end up cutting our throats with hull. I don't see how this on tape does anything for our nickel.

We need Timmons back or we are fubarred. I told you guys during the preseason watching our tape one nickel lb starter injury and we were screwed. Well we didn't get injured we got awol but Timmons was a top 5 mission critical and he's gone and Miami has no answer.

It's by far our biggest exposure and it only took 1 week of games for keeps to show up.

Lippett would be starting right now if he wasn't injured. Regardless if he would not be starting on a team with good corners. He's better than Maxwell who is starting. You can make excuses but you're not going to get a superstar at every position and Lippett played very well last year...a year ahead of schedule. Pretty sure he led the team in INTs too. And if Nolan Carroll was here he'd probably be starting over Maxwell too. He'd definitely be one of our top 3 corners.

Regardless, keep your optimism. I suppose a team willing to trade a player who was a 1st round pick, not to mention a team we play in two weeks, totally flubbed the trade and Miami got a steal somehow.
I've said multiple times in this thread Anthony isn't good. That's not the point of my post.

It's a 5th round pick. Not a 3rd round. Miami's been average at best for over a decade because we have a higher 5th round pick hit then 1st. I'll trade every 5th for the rest of my life if Miami can get a HOF talent at a position of need next year.

You can keep your Lippetts or Carrolls and I'll take my chances at a star.

Well your chances just went down with one less pick.

How much contribution do you expect from a 5th round pick? One would reasonably expect Anthony's contribution this year to equal if not surpass the expectations of a 5th round pick. If he does, then we did NOT overpay.
We gave up more for him than we did William Hayes. It was an overpay.

Athlete not a player. I'm OK as a developmental guy like Allen and Hewitt ... But how many of those are we going to carry? And why give away a 5th round pick and eat cap space for a bust who at best is a DE elopmental guy?

Stinks of desperation and poorly used resources. I hope I'm wrong about the player, but I didn't like him coming out of college and he proved me right. Typical dolphins to reach for a bust. Just imagine if we had brought in David Harris ... sooooooo much better.

NE makes a living off of signing other teams busts and turning them into solid players. Eric Rowe, Kyle Van Noy, Rob Ninkovich, the list goes on. But when we do it, it reeks of desperation lol. I can't comment one way or another on the player because I'm just unfamiliar, but I find it funny how if NE made a move like this, it would be seen as wise or whatever but when we do it, it's desperation. Bunch of Mrs. Negative Nancy's is our fan-base I suppose.

Not sure if the Harris thing was sarcastic but you know David Harris has seen a total of 3 defensive snaps for NE so far this year right?
