Unearthing Every NFL Team's Early Hidden Gem

Believe it or not, there are actually those of us who can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time, enjoy playing fantasy football, and are perfectly adept at differentiating between fantasy value and actual value for the teams they play for.

For instance, the Kenny Stills and Deshawn Jacksons of the world are extremely valuable to their teams because they can take safeties out of a play, open up the middle of the field, and let the other weapons operate in space. They can also change a game with a single 9 route.

However, on a fantasy roster, especially in PPR leagues, they don't receive enough targets each week to garner being starters. That's why no matter how much people bellyache about Jarvis Landry's yards per catch rate, he's absolute gold in fantasy because he can catch 13 balls like last week. In real football, however, it's easy to see why he's a 2nd round pick and guys like Phillip Dorsett and Breshad Perriman go in the 1st.

Trust me, nobody is going to question your football intellect if you enjoy playing fantasy.

I eat **** and trip over myself every time I try this so kudos to you for pulling it off.

Maybe if those fans don't have enough sense to understand the difference between fantasy and the actual game of football. They aren't the same thing.

Unfortunately, fantasy isn't going anywhere. It brings a bunch more eyeballs to the NFL at a time that the NFL is struggling to hold eyes and gain more attention.

Absolutely! My mother, wife, sister (OK she loves football) and sister in law all play. What I can't stand is on Monday's or Tuesday's when I return yo the office I'd love to talk about the football games I watched. Problem is my peers want yo tsdlk fsntasy. That's the downside for me.

When I Used to play....always cared more about the Dolphins winning than winning a fantasy game.

But I assume this thread was not about Fantasy football....Stills is hardly a hidden gem.

I would say Jakeem Grant is more of a hidden gem because we aren't displaying his receiving playmaking skills.

I also think jakeem fits this better. I hope they can utilize him more in the future

jakeem to this point has done next to nothing in real nfl games.

for god's sake he played 1 snap last week. I think Stills fits the hidden gem term well.

you made my point. there is an unknown element that could be hidden within grant. we know what we have in stills. geez people are dense

Having 9TDs in a season doesn't make you "hidden." Just about everyone who follows football has heard the name Kenny Stills.
He's "hidden" because he is wearing a Dolphins jersey. If he was in a Patriots or Cowboys jersey he would already be prepped for the Hall of Fame.
