Running back rotation

As someone said, Gase shortened the roster for the Chargers game. Obviously, he knows better than I do, but I would like to see our backups get MORE playing time, not less. Playing 16 games in a row will take it's toll. Games may be tighter, but in the long run we may be better off. Players need to be involved in the real action to develop and we are going to need all the help we can get. I want to see more of Drake, Grant, Tankersley, Carroo, and Gray.

the entire offense was reserved. Gase was conservative on play calling and trust with his rotation. this should be a better week to get more creative and in week 4, against the saints, he will be forced to be even more creative

This week should be a good week to get both Williams and Drake touches especially out of the back field in the flats where both do usually good jobs. Only thing the Jets have going for them is their DLine, no sense trying to J train them to death if we don't have to when they are so easily beat elsewhere. Though I suspect Ajayi would pulverize those fools anyway

We could put in Drake with Ajayi in a split backfield and mix in some run and pass.

Ajayi needs to be spelled consistently. 25+ carries is too much for 16 straight weeks is too much. The problem is that neither Drake nor Williams have the skill set to duplicate Ajayi's production. Drake seems to only be comfortable running outside zone plays like he did at Bama when he subbed Derrick Henry. Williams seems to only be used on 3rd down passing situations.

Last year Williams' highest game carry total was 6 and Drake's was 9. We have to find a runner that can truly compliment Ajayi and burn off more carries.

The good news is that Ajayi seems to have improved his game by running outside more. If they put Ajayi and Drake on the field at the same time, the defense won't be able to key on outside runs.

Maybe the gameplan involves playing the backup RBs less at first. I could see Drake starting somewhere in week 5 or so with Ajayi and Williams sprinkled in.

Drake starting with a healthy Ajayi? It's possible, especially if Drake can show he's an every down back and can block. I wouldn't put anything past Gase if Ajayi is starting to show some serious wear and tear from his workload.

eh, Drake might get a start because the package that's called on the first play of the game calls for it. i don't see Drake playing the majority of snaps in any week over Ajayi barring injury though.
