Cowherd "fins most underrated team in NFL"

Too early to say. I want to see the offense start to put up 30 plus points and see if the defense can continue to play better against the run for more than one game.

Saying that, I have looked at early mock drafts that have the Dolphins picking number eight. I guess this is based on Las Vegas odds. Yes, that definitely makes me think Miami is underrated.

If by "underrated" he means that people's predictions of about 8-8 should really be about 10-6, then I can go along with that.

If by "underrated" he means that people's predictions of about 8-8 should really be about 12-4, then he's going to far in my opinion.

The problem as I see it at this point is still the pass defense. There is no shutdown corner, which is a problem, and there isn't that fierce pass rush a la the early 2000s Tampa Bay Buccaneers to make up for it.

When this team faces the Julio Joneses of the world, they're going to have major problems. A player like that can win a game against this team by himself in large measure in my opinion. A 12 catches for 200 yards and 2 TDs sort of day.

They were trying to trade for Richard Sherman with good reason.

If by underrated he means that a 6-10 team should really be 8-8, then maybe I agree with him. I know this, if we can sustain our ability to make opposing kickers miss while ours makes 50+ yarders with ease, I'll buy into the 10+ wins club.

Been watching him often the past 2 months. He's pretty spot on on most topics across all sports. I don't agree with him we're a playoff team looking at that schedule and when he looked over it again on air he was like ehhh lol. We'll see guys!

We are on a streak that has gone untalked about for awhile now. We've gone 10-2 the last 12 regular season games which says something. This years schedule will tell a lot about our team. As of now, I do think we are an underrated football team. Most teams would crumble with all the adversity we have came up against and kept grinding. The players have the "we aren't going to lose" mentality. When's the last time anyone has heard a Dolphins squad think and know they can compete against anyone. Results matter and Colin is going by the facts. 10-2 in the last 12 is hard for any team in the NFL. It's been a longgg time since I went into games thinking "ya we can beat them." I think the NFL players and teams understand the type of team Gase puts out there. Tough, together, and winners.

To put that into perspective, the Pats are also 10-2 in their last 12 regular season games.

If we had tannehill and a decent LB corp, no one would be under rating this team.

Gase is going to solidify his legacy as fins HC this year, one way or another.

He's right, but even our own fans don't believe this team is that good yet. When we had Tannehill, I was probably was one of the few on earth that thought we would win the division. That changed with his injury, but if Cutte can avoid those killer picks, we are the most talented team in our division. Obviously NE has the edge on coaching, but IF Cutte continues to play well, our talent will overwhelm their old asses in the end. And by they I mean Brady, because he IS the Patriots. He is the only one they can not lose and remain a top tier ball-club. They are an offensive juggernaut now and it's all because of 1 man. Their D is just average overall with great coaching.

I agree. This game on Sunday will confirm a lot. In the past twenty years or so, this is the exact game where we would lay an egg. I think we're all so conditioned to expect one of these unexplainable fail-to-show-up-and-stomp-a-team-who-is-horrible to pop up during the season. However we finally have a great coach who won't let that happen. He's not going to panic if the Jets were to play this game like it's the super bowl. Really good teams weather the storms (bad teams playing well above their talent on a given Sunday) and finish off these games like they're supposed to - clinically and efficiently. I fully expect the Jets to try and attack our weaknesses. Todd Bowles knows a ton about our secondary - in particular, he knows Rashad Jones and when RJ likes to creep up to the line to help stop the run. But I think we have a coaching staff and coach in particular who knows this and will have our team ready to go.

Further, Gase knows that if you let a bad team hang around until the 4th quarter, their confidence builds and they actually become a better opponent. Pressure builds at that point. Remember the Cleveland game last year? Same type of game. Bad team, playing at their stadium. We had to go to overtime to beat the worst team in the league. I can still see Terrel Pryor making huge plays in that game. I'm sure Gase is showing his players that game and reminding them that this is possible. The Jets have Matt Forte who is a pretty good running back and we are still pretty short handed in terms of Linebackers. Bowles I'm sure is going to see Week 2 game footage of our linebackers trailing the Charger receivers in coverage. McKown is no Rivers, but he can hit the crossing route if we don't get pressure on him rushing four. He can also find the opening if we blitz.

I think this is the game that Wake and Suh and Branch dominate. The Jet's offensive line is pretty young and inexperienced. If Wake gets to McKown early, he's going to be a nightmare for the tackles in the second half. This is the key IMHO.

Too soon to know. I think he may be correct, but as most Dolphin fans WE should try and keep the optimism to a minimum. We've been burned way too often in the past. And I disagree with him on one main point. We play a lot of hard games on the road as well.

Cowherd was the only national commentator that was positive when Dolphins signed Cutler. Others like Steven A Smith were all written off Cutler. I am not surprised Cowherd given us props.

Stephen A acted like we signed the worst QB in history. I'd love for Cutler to shut him up which is almost impossible with his loud annoying mouth. He should worry about himself liking two teams like only a fake fan does. It's funny how there wasn't a segment on First Take to talk about Cutler's first game the next morning. He sure talked **** when we signed him. He needs to stick to basketball to be honest. Just another misinformed idiot talking about something he knows nothing about. I'd bet my life 90% of the so-called "experts" don't know we have the SAME EXACT record as the Pats in the last 12 games. Skip, as a Cutler fan, loved the pickup lol

I know we've gone 10-2 in our last 12 regular season games but please keep on mind that only ONE win came vs a winning record team(PITT) who then kicked our butss in the playoffs. Yes you have to start by winning the games you're supposed to win but lets not get ahead of ourselfs. We still have lots of holes on that defense and we need Thomas to be the TE he was in Denver for our offense to score more. 19 points will not win us many games

Ozzy rules!!

I agree with him but we need to get Timmons back.

This is a good football team but that's the missing piece
I agree but lets look at the silver lining. We are playing the jets and should be able to win without LT while giving some of the young guys valuable experience. We bring him back in a few weeks and then McDonald a few weeks after that. If we can figure out a way to use Anthony as a downhill thumper without getting him too exposed we could end up with a decent LBing unit.

Cutler is better for this team at this point then Tannehill.

I am not a Tannehill hater or basher - I actually have supported him quite a bit...

That said, Cutler's pocket presence is light years ahead of Tannehill's.

Cutler also is likely to be much better in a few areas - hurry up, improvisation on extended plays, exploiting other teams.

Tannehill plays a bit stiff - and his pocket presence or lack there of is his big weakness and always has been.

Cutler will win a game or two that Tannehill likely would not of. We will be faced with a big fat dilemma at QB when this season ends...

Couldn't disagree with you more. The only dilemma at QB when this season ends is who is going to back up tannehill in 2018.
