Cutler vs. Tannehill Season-Long Comparison Thread

I'm looking forward to next year already unfortunately.

Here's what I'm hoping for for this year:
-no major injuries.
-Get some good looks at Asiata / Davis
-figure out this defense needs a major rehaul

Then we can axe Maxwell in the offseason, draft heavy on defense, OL, and find a backup qb/some for the future to develop, and a TE

Gase needs to get involved with the D

I can't believe how long it takes Cutler to get rid of the ball. The receivers are open. He's just late. I don't know if it's because he messes up reading the D or his mechanics are bad but it's frustrating as hell.

This offense is also gonna really miss Tannehill's ability to scramble for first downs. His ability to extend 2-3 drives per game is huge.

New day same serious qb concerns on tape

And even worse they feel like they come with the package. And feel not correctable. Whatever happened to the lock step timing routes they have disappeared without tannehill.

His pre to post snap reads are making these other two look like chump change

If it's of any consolation, if one goes by passer rating alone, 34 of Cutler's 141 games as a starter in the NFL have been worse than today's.

That's 24%, or nearly one of every four.

So, if he starts 16 games this year, one should expect that roughly four of them would be like today's or worse.

4 more games of that and I'm turning in my card

That had I'm washed up written all over it

Brutal.

I can't win with qb play like that.

Although outside of x Howard who played like a 1 the entire team gets a fail grade. Plus the coaching staff

So wear it with pride boys.

Frankly the qb looked like he belonged on his couch.

Come out of the half perfect pa deep middle route to stills throws a one hopper. Bad ball placement all game long. Missed Jarvis Landry for a td so bad on an easy read juice said screw it I don't want to play anymore. Last drive dvp catches his first ball looks at it like this is what I'm here for?

Way too much back foot and bad placement throws. Yep it helps avoid lead leg injuries but he trust his arm to bail out his mechanics way too much and it shows.

Some of that contact he brings on himself I find it hard to believe he's gonna make it 16 games.

All that said we have no other choice and this is the best option for 2017

Could not agree more, although I do hold out hope that Cutler will play much better than that going forward. His accuracy SUCKED yesterday. I don't think there was a single accurate throw. Even his completions had guys diving for balls or stopping and reaching back for them.

That's what I felt was missing as well. There was certainly no "West Coast" in that passing game yesterday.

Those timing routes are a function of correct pre to post snap reads without them you get a whole lot of unasked for improv

That for god knows what reason people love but directly contradict the offense

I thought cutler was better at that aspect of his game he looks lost.

And I can't tell you how many times I've seen that bail backwards into an edge sack from cutler in Chicago. More than I could count

Add in that you will die before you correct a 35 year old gunslingers mechanics thinks hes Brett Favre mentality wise and we got ourselves a mess.

When he threw that one hopper to stills on a perfectly dialed up deep middle pa coming out of the half the air went out of the entire teams balloon.

I know it went out of mine.

12-4?

I suspect that's tongue-in-cheek, and you probably know that his other 12 games a year during his career haven't been consistent with that sort of dominance. He'd have to play like he did yesterday four times a year, and then have virtually a perfect passer rating on average in the other 12 games to achieve that, and of course he's nowhere near that.

No doubt. That was the quarterbacking equivalent of erectile dysfunction.

Really after yesterday I think you have to start keeping track of how many plays Cutler doesn't make that Matt Moore would likely make (like the play noted above), versus the number of mistakes Moore would make in comparison to Cutler's.

Might as well turn this into a MM vs JC vs RT thread

I think I'm better off just keeping track of tannehills rehab.

To the original OP, was that enough volume of **** for you to finally concluded your a valuation of cutler.
