I'm not sure an Ireland vs Tannenbaum discussion is even warranted. What's the point? They both suck.
As far as Tannenbaum goes, a lot of his supposedly smart moves turned out to be fools gold.
1. The trade for Maxwell and Alonso. Do Maxwell or Alonso look like difference makers or even solid pieces on defense? They're both getting exploited week after week.
2. Ignoring the safety position. I harped on this during the draft and I got a lot of replies saying that Nate Allen's addition would solidify the back 7 until McDonald returns. Wrong. BTW, why do you give a contract extension to McDonald? He has yet to play a game for us, and he's a suspension risk.
3. The linebacker situation is embarrassing. Timmons might be our only linebacker worthy of starting and we obviously didn't do enough due diligence before signing him. He's also old.
4. Verner signing. If you can't beat out Maxwell, what good are you?
5. Interior line. Look at our starters. Pouncey is 1 misstep from IR. Bushrod is old. Larsen might have been a good signing, but the depth behind him is abysmal.
Tack on no cap space, misused draft picks, and suspect contracts. This team just doesn't seem to have a plan.
