Is Adam Gase Overrated???

Gase has set the standard pretty high making the playoffs in his first year with a team that probably didn't belong there.

Is he overrated? I don't think so. I think it was just a bad game and hopefully the team will rebound in a big way. It's a tough schedule with the AFC West and AFC South, two of the better divisions, facing Miami in the non-division games. So it's certainly possible that the Dolphins win fewer than 10.

Look at it this way, there was a time when I'm sure 49er fans wondered if Bill Walsh was the guy. Didn't he start out 2-14? This team is still a work in progress with some talent needed in the back seven for sure.

Cutler looked in tune vs SD in second half. I'm not giving a pass to them because of Hurricane. They had first class accommodations. Bucs and Jags have had dominate wins and even Texans have shown heart. So no excuses for Hurricane from me.

I heard on the CBS broadcast yesterday that the Dolphins have traveled more in the first three weeks than 14 NFL teams will travel the entire year. And they're flying to London today. Bucs and Texans didn't have to fly to California.

It's been that way since the franchise started. Our location in the US will have us be the most traveled every year. This is nothing new.

Pretty unacceptable to have no silent snap counts at a road game.

Must have figured the crowd was gonna be in miamis pocket.

Wrong

Let me get this straight, he was a fraud at the beginning of the season last year...we win a bunch of games and make the playoffs, HE'S A GENIUS! Now, we are 1-1 with the starting QB getting hurt and he's a fraud again? Come on, guys...let's not let two games determine this guys final grade.

I gotta say..... After 2 weeks of the season I'm really not impressed with his play calling. This team was definitely not prepared to play today. I'm becoming concerned Gase isn't the genius we were told he was.

I'm on record as a fan of Gase . . . as HC. OC? Not so much. I'm soooo tired of the slow starts, the screens I can predict half the time, the run-on-1st-down (although not so much yesterday). Far too often the team looks unprepared, disinterested, or both. Looks so Philbin-esque. For my money, pick a random fan from the stands as OC. OK, I'm exaggerating. Yes, it's one game THIS year, but too similar to too many games last year. Something needs to change on O. The D is about what most expected. Holding opponents to 20 or less should be good enough for this O. Lastly, was it just me, or did the Jets seem to know the play much of the time?

The difficulty I have with Gase at this point is that any supposedly brilliant offensive mind ought to be able to take the game tape of other teams and construct an at least somewhat effective opening drive on offense, far more often than not.

At that point in games there are no situational variables (score, time remaining, etc.) that should influence the play-calling, and it should be the sheer Xs and Os know-how of the coach that prevails.
