Rey, the difference maker?

I am going to propose that fat out of shape Rey is the reason our linebacker play has blossomed. I’m thinking Kiko and Timmons no longer have to watch the mike and can play Sam and will without looking over their shoulder.

Hull and Allen played fine for what they are but Rey knows his assignments and I don’t think anyone trusted them to know theirs. Agree or disagree!

He only played 16 snaps the whole game yesterday
 
It’s nice to have a thumper that can move a little. He’s slowly getting in shape and he can and will smash a guard in the mouth. Really helps free up our other guys.

I would put Rey 3rd to last and Bobby McCain & Nate Allen being the weakest links on defense.. I didn't see a big impact from Rey but the D-Line with Suh, Wake, Taylor, Godcheaux,Harris and specially William Hayes playing lights out. Then you have Kiko and Timmons playing at a very high level.
 
Agree BenchFiedler. Since Timmons came back from wherever he was, the LB play has been very good. From the Saints game onward. He's having a big impact on the D. Rey hasn't played a ton but has looked good too.

Man oh man what a difference over the ST guys we've been sending out the last 2 years.

Bobby's definitely not the weakest link. He's much improved and is playing well.

Then who would be? Not starting a fight, just curious to what you’re seeing.

Fat Rey has done a good job stuffing the run.

Yep, I can agree with that. Makes sense, he is a vet that knows his role. Now other players are able to just focus on their roles and make plays. The more this D plays together the better they are going to get. I’m excited to see what TJ does when he is out there. I really want this D to shut Brady down. Maybe concuss Brady a little. I hate Brady and the Cheaters.
 
Timmons has made the difference. After Suh, Wake and Jones, he is by far the most important player on D. He changes the entire defense.

Rey was a good addition, but his value is a lot more situational. It definitely does help having him be an option as a thumper.
 
Where was Rey Maualuga on the Devonta Freeman run for 40+ yards? Go back and watch that play. Watch it 5 times in slow motion. Any ILB with average agility should have stopped that play for a small gain. Yea, Rey the difference maker...for Atlanta.
 
Timmons is the difference maker...finally paired kiko with someone who can play
 
I didn’t record the game so I didn’t get to rewind and watch it again.

But in person, I was scared to death by some of the wide DL fronts we showed yesterday. No one was over the center or guards quite a few times. I don’t think that works without a fat guy sacrificing himself in the middle. I think that slow, heavy missile helps free up Timmons and Kiko.

I hope the game is NFLN game of the week so I can look at it again.
 
Rey is fat and slow and isn’t perfect but he has helped. He’s not the difference maker as his snaps are and will be limited. The difference is the play of Kiko and Timmons together since they started playing together. Can’t wait till McDonald is back and Charles Harris is getting more snaps every week. Could see him already taking some snaps not from Branch.
