The Dolphins need to win as many games as possible before Week 10. They play at Carolina in Week 10, then have a three-game stretch of Patriots, Broncos and Patriots from Weeks 12 to 14 before closing the season with another tough, three-game stretch of Bills, Chiefs and Bills.

Signs of life, hope, a ground game, some defense ... and more wins from the Dolphins? (Don't worry, though: The passing game still really sucks.) Jay Ajayi is a true power back. Watch a couple of his fourth-quarter runs, were the man just goes north-south, ready to plow. Other than an unsportsmanlike call at the end of the game, the Dolphins weren't penalized in the second half. That call went against Reshad Jones, who had the presence of mind to not deliver the kill shot on Austin Hooper, slowing up to catch a tipped pass when his team really needed it. #20isunderrated

That was an impressive victory at Atlanta for a team that needed it. They now face a big division game with the Jets.

Atlanta was supposed to be a big fat L too. With this defense that Pats, Broncos, Pats stretch doesn't look so daunting.

I’m not putting on my aqua and orange glasses just yet, but the facts are hard to ignore... our once stacked schedule suddenly doesn’t look so scary.

The Raiders aren’t the same. Denver just got beat by the 0-5 Giants. New England hasn’t looked anywheres near as tough.

This team can make the playoffs

I told you folks ATL is over-rated, because much like the Patriots, that defense is not as good as most people assumed it would be. But unlike the Pats, they only have a good and not great QB who can't bail them out consistently, Matt Ryan has always been severely over-rated by this fan base, and we all know why...

None of those polls mean anything. This is not college where the polls count for something. Having said that, we're a 3-2 team that has a long way to go, mostly on offense of course. Every game is there for the taking but the wins won't come easy. One week, one game and one play at a time

My favorite part about the joke that is the ESPN list is the blurb they use to explain how teams are ordered:

"These rankings are based on which teams voters think would win head-to-head matchups."

The Dolphins are ranked below the Chargers, Titans, and Falcons, but above the Jets. I know these lists are meaningless and silly fun, but that blurb made me laugh a little.

It's understood they're meaningless. It's a fun conversation everytime we post these polls. Nothing more or less.

I dunno - it's hard to fault anyone for ranking the Phins just about anywhere. We've lost convincingly to some bad teams and won unconvincingly against two mediocres and a good team. The ATL win was huge but felt a lot like the dirty birds melting down in trademark fashion and us playing solid, if not unspectacular, ball at the same time.

Need to see more before we really know what this team is...but at least we're trending up.

I understand. My posts was not directed at you. It's directed at the people that make the rankings

An Inevitable response of every football rankings thread ever created.

But at the moment ranking this team does seem like a dart throw...team feels like it could go either way right now, teetering on the brink of excellence or disaster. The next few games will be interesting to see which way it goes. I do think we'll climb these rankings though...offense will keep working out the kinks, and D will continue to play well.
