Gase needs to tell Burke to pack his things....

Oh.

I've lost quite a bit of faith in Gase this year over Cutler and his playcalling, especially Cutler's huge contract, but I see what you mean. I still don't think he's right about keeping Cutler in, and the 10 million contract was never the right decision, but even if the team goes on a huge losing streak (which wouldn't surprise me in the slightest) I'm going to wait until next year to make up my mind on him.

The contract is on Tannenbaum and what was available out there and knowing we have in Moore, Cutler is most likely the best option as he can come in day one and have a general understanding of the playbook. The playcalling has been questionable, but part of that is trying to limit the Cutler exposure.

I do know that Gase finds ways to win. That team last year was decimated by Injuries, losing two of your best players, having trash at LB outside of Kiko and we still managed to get in the playoffs...not sure how many other coaches would have had the same success, but we know Gase can adjust for these holes.

Where do I say Cutler has been acceptable? This is an argument for how well the coach is doing. We are winning, that is the only stat that matters for a coach. We act as if Gase's only responsibility is how the QB plays when he does everything he can to hide the QB's deficiencies, which he has done, which he did last year when Moore took over. The ton of the team, the fact we continue to win close games, the fact that he has a .619 winning percentage and is 12 - 4 over the last 16 games may just be enough to believe he knows better than a few fans on a forum about which QB should be starting.

This x 1,000. Some people act like Gase wanted Cutler all along and this was his chance to bring him in as an upgrade...and because he has the rep of a QB whisperer, the QB performance is the only criteria to judge him.

I see the situation as the ultimate in making lemonade from lemons. He saw Cutler was the best Plan B to try to salvage the season...maybe Moore was the better choice, but many of us (and based on history, the NFL) see Moore as a great back up and locker room guy...not a 16 game starter to lead you into the playoffs. Cutler has been pretty darned flawed so Gase has been calling games and taking steps to avoid damage from the QB, stay close and win games down the stretch...and it's worked pretty well. He gets credit for the run game, the D, and especially, the culture of the team that is pulling out close wins. Even if he is hands off on the D, he puts the guys in place that are hands on. That is part of leadership. Likewise he gets the blame when those elements are not up to par...hes the HC, not a glorified QB coach!

And the narrative that close games will catch up to you....that in the long run they are a 50-50 deal is BS. Teams and cultures can be built to win those more often than they lose. Sure, it's great to dominate and win games going away, but this is not likely in the pros.

Congratulations! you were right about what you posted on a fan message board. you must be so happy for yourself, good luck on your future endeavors as an NFL coach.

Note: I'll bump the thread is the defense looks good again.

yall trippin! defense is playing waaaay too many downs. they get stops - offense does d**k. they get turns - offense does double d**k. complementary football generally produces wins. y’all see any of that from our team yet?? if y’all do, lemme kick that roach wit you.

No you wont. The thread has been dead for weeks, lets leave it there - especially as it was only bumped to take a shot at other posters.
