Thoughts on K. Drake

I think he has the best skill of making someone miss, which could be key on 3rd down since Miami likes to throw short of the sticks all the time

Doesn't matter if he can't run routes very well, get open or just produce when called upon. Not hating on Drake. I like his skill set but he's simply not as reliable an option as Williams at this time and that isn't really saying much about Williams.....

He's not a better receiver than Williams...he's just not. Williams is better than both Ajayi and Drake coming out of the backfield. It's plain as day.

Agreed and that's why drake has no role in this offense. None nada zilch

I'm not even sure if you called draws or delays if he would actually run it up inside

I think we get a little cute in the draft and see someone who has potential to be a matchup nightmare. Problem with gimmick players is you need a plan to use them. That is where we are failing.

Drake has the size to run inside and if we did that we wouldn’t telegraph as much by having him in on third down. Also need to develop Jay as a credible receiving threat on third down. Ditto on Grant as a WR.

In some ways Jay is the problem. Hard to find a change of pace back with similar metrics.

I’d use Drake and Grant more on first down and trot out Williams as my third down pass catcher when absolutely necessary.

Wasn't the Carroo drop deflected and wobbling by the time the it got to him. I've seen better receivers than Carroo miss similar passes that have been tipped.

And this is where I point out the Dolphins do not have a James White type player. Or a Dion Lewis for that matter.

It would be good if Kenyan Drake could develop into that guy but he had one play on Sunday against Atlanta on offense. He made mistake on that play and that was it for him. Damien Williams got the rest of the third-down back action, catching all three of his targets for 14 yards.

And there's another reason Drake isn't playing more. He's one of the dumb players on this team that doesn't know his assignment.

If you can't run routes or catch...what good is being fast?

It's like saying lets put Carroo out there in place of Landry cause Carroo is bigger and faster...he's still not better than Landry.

Actually Drake is a much better receiver out of the backfield then you obviously think.

yeah I hardly consider that to be a "drop"...and he would have had a walk in td on another play had the qb lead him to space instead of throwing it behind him allowing the lb to make a play on it int

i think drake is more naturally elusive than williams who is fine at that in his own right....drake is a fine receiver, not exactly electric with the ball in his hands....

he could be a change of pace back and get 5ish touches a game....

you don't need to replace him, but he doesn't make this offense any better or more dynamic

Oh...that must be why he has so many receptions this year. 3 receptions for 7 yards...wow, that's a lot of speed on display there...2.3 yards per catch...smokin' fast.

Cutler's placement is giving all his receivers issues with catching the ball. That's not to fully excuse his targets, but he isn't leading his receivers, due to his happy feet.

Carroo is a guy I personally still have a lot of faith in, more so than either Drake or Grant. His abilities in college translate far better to the pros than for Drake or Grant. He probably just needs some targets designed to maximise his abilities that aren't impossible to catch. Our previous offenses used Matthews to great effect and there's no doubt to me that Carroo has superior ability, if he can mentally get involved.

People moan about the Carroo pick, but for me the wasted pick was Drake. They should have taken Carroo with that spot if they liked him that much.

I like Williams but my feelings are that he won't be on the squad much longer unless he starts to do more on a consistent basis. He is a good pass catcher and his pass blocking is very good. As a runner? Very underwhelming. Please take a look at his stats from Sunday's game. I'd hardly use those numbers as proof that he's "heating up"....

Huh, thought for sure Drake had one carry early where he got stuffed...

Oh, so because this year they're not using him that much, you believe he is no longer fast?

I guess because Ajayi has only a 3.8 yards per carry, you think he's no longer effective as a RB. A stat does not tell the whole story.

Again, I am not saying Drake is a better option then Williams, I am agreeing with you that Williams should be used, but Drake should be also be used more, because he can add to the offense with his speed.

Drake in 2016 had a 5.4 yards a carry to Williams 3.3 on the ground with also 5.1 yards per catch. Though he is not as good a receiver, he does add something extra to the offense as a 3rd down back that Williams can't.

Your missing the point so I'll just agree to disagree.

Agree on the pick they used, we panicked in that draft trying to fill holes for players we let walk out of here like Miller and Mathews. That should have never happened. At the time of the draft we did not know if we had a rb like Jay A on the team, Parker was on IR alot so Mathews was a big part of the offense like he is at Tennessee. They smartened up this year and signed our own players.
