Yeah, on Jones and McDonald, but Im not sure you are using Jones optimally in that role. He makes a lot of plays around the LoS.
 
yeah you aren't getting best bang for jones like that...

I see it more mcdonald and jones paired cover 2 and 2 deep down and distance determining the single high run more with an allen type cheap 1 year vet...McDonald with some big nickel lb like looks too

McDonald in on all short yardage and goalline etc...
 
I still think Miami's plan is to draft a legit deep middle FS and make TJ and nickel S and LB.

Do you'd have Jones and TJ roaming around with a true FS behind them.

In the defensive system being utilized under Gase, they have not shown, in two years, any indication of doing that. That may change but being a team that rarely uses a single high safety, it might be a waste.
 
It's fair to say Harris has not done much since getting to the NFL. However it's also fair to say that DEs need time to adapt to the increase in talent.

I'm not suggesting Harris has their ceiling but I am suggesting that if this is the type of rookie season all pros have than give the kid some time to grow

Because you are deep at the position. But, everyone is a bit long in the tooth, so a youngster needed to be added. I think it is a perfect situation for Harris and the Fins, no pressure. The game seems to be slowing down for Harris, each week there is more and more from him. Trending up

Right...and a competent FO is not normally making decisions based on a one year horizon. They should be thinking about a five year horizon...and we'll need pass rushers, the most important element on D, in that horizon.

The exception being a situation where you are a SB contender with mature key pieces and you are thinking youre one piece away. That certainly does not describe us this year.
 
Why did we keep looping our lde inside saw it with branch and Harris was horrible

The opinions of so-called "armchair GM's" change like the wind blows...no one can, or is qualified to judge a player's career until said player has retired/quit the game and there is even a COMPLETE body of work to judge. For now, I'll just consider those comments "entertainment" when logging in to this forum.

Don't forget what many were saying concerning Tankersley... And that was coming from some knowledgeable poster's...

Projecting results on a player's career before they lace up their shoes for the first game.. smh
 
Harris dd not appear to have a good game last night setting the edge. He's shown some real potential, but if teams can consistently work the sweep he's going to be limited to a situational pass rusher.

That was the reason I knocked the pick. Not because of his pass rush ability but the fact that we drafted a situational pass rusher...a situational player, in the 1st round. Next thing you know we'll be drafting situational O-lineman...5 guys come in the run block, they go off and 5 new guys come in the pass block.

Harris has a long way to go but I do like his work ethic. We'll see where he ends up in a couple of year.
