It would take too long to list the number of things that have gone wrong for the Dolphins’ offensive line the last season and a half, but just in the past week or so they lost their position coach to a national scandal and their best individual player to a concussion.
Yet here they are.
No matter what goes wrong for this group, on or off the field, they always seem to pull through. The line struggled the first four games and should’ve gotten even worse when Mike Pouncey went down Sunday, but they held up against the Falcons to help the offense score 20 straight points for the win.

I hought this was Gase’s only questionable hire as the 49ers and Washington’s OLs were consistently underwhelming while he was at each. He was obviously distracted in Miami and its amazing that no one was aware or if they were, failed to report him. Just having a coach focused on the OL play and not a sideshow will be an improvement.

this OL is NOT good enough. it's pure garbage and the reason we can't compete with the best teams in the league.

The line looks good when it's allowed to lean on defenses and run to set up the pass. When it's forced to dance around using 3 and 4 WR sets, then it gets exposed. Unless you have a truly special unit, then keeping it simple always works out better.

Battered ... yes. Beleaguered ... yes that's fair. Good enough ... NO! I strongly disagree with the belief that our OL was/is good enough. Our QB is so shell-shocked that he is always backpedaling (even on run plays it seems!). Our RB regularly tops the league in yards after contact and a third of the time there is no hole. This is NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

And just for the record, Pouncey has not been our best OL this year, despite his ability. He has been inconsistent. And it is particularly unfair to the young OL Jake Brendel to suggest that when Brendel performance seems to have been on par with Pouncey's... and the team did better.

This article seems wrong. He can think whatever he likes, but I disagree with his assertion that our OL is good enough. To me, the other stuff looks more like excuses for poor performances that are being falsely trumpeted as adversity the OL overcame. Poor play is not overcoming adversity. Bleach.

Our line should not be called pure garbage imo. This is basically the same line that won 9 out of 11 and made the play offs, on top of that Jay Ajayi had 3 200 yard games running behind these guys so I'd rate them somewhere between the Hogs and pure garbage, they're not the best but they're damn sure not the worst. I am also of the opinion that they are improving.

Absolute garbage post...to say Laremy Tunsil, Pouncey and James are pure garbage is laughable.

Yes we need to find or develop quality guard play and the unit needs to become a gelled cohesive unit...but your post is very extreme and wrong.

O-line balled out in the 2nd half vs. ATL.

The hiring of the coke head was a huge mistake by Gase, and just another case of the NFL's good-ole-boy network. As mentioned earlier, his track record pretty much showed his lackluster offensive line performances....so it's amazing that he held on so long in the league.

Now that he is gone, I expect the o-line to thrive (as long as we keep the two TE sets going).

OLs and QBs struggling seems to be kind of a theme across much of the league right now.

That doesn't excuse our OL or our QB, but it's an interesting phenomenon.

Been going on for some years now. The Lewans and DeCastros are fewer and further between because defenses had to adjust to keep it competitive. All the rule changes resulted in those uber athletes now being D linemen. Offensive lines were the obvious casualty. Stuff like this usually trends back to the mean but I don't see rule changes making it easier for defenders any time soon, so ...

Needs to continue to improve but compared to the debacle of Turner and Thomas starting early last year, its okay.

well..there's your opinion..and there's the tape. for sure the tackles have been ok, but the interior line including when pouncey has been in has been among the worst in the league. it is what it is. if it doesn't get bettet, we won't win.
