The only real concern anyone had about running back Jay Ajayi when he first came out of college at Boise State three years ago centered around the stability of his surgically repaired right knee.

Though he was three years removed from his ACL surgery at the time, there was talk around the NFL that the knee might need constant treatment and attention in order to keep Ajayi on the field.

It’s beginning to look as though those reports were accurate.

Ajayi isn’t injured but he often misses a day of practice each week – usually Thursday – to rest and get treatment on his knee, which has been the source of chronic soreness since at least the end of the preseason.

unfortunately this is why we got him in the fifth round....

let the kid rest and ride that pony as long as you can...but we may need to think RB in the draft sooner than we all thought

I think you have to have a good mix at running back to help Jay with longevity and a change of pace as well. I like that they are being careful, but at the same time others need to step up when they get the carries.

Damn shame, guy represents sports in the best possible way, pure heart. Gimme a team of guys with his heart in any sport and it’s pure domination. Hopefully he has a few more years left, he is a blessing to watch.

What about Drake? Drake would make this offense more dynamic when Tannehill returns... He has good hands, runs great routes and he has great speed. My only concern is that he is not yet a polished blocker.

He's a star for your favorite team laying it out there on the line. I don't think this post is fair. He's not a guy that has been hurt and lets hope he has a long fruitful career as a Miami Dolphin.

I love watching Jay play, hell even considered ordering his jersey(which I never get urge to do with current players in last 10+ years) but if we are starting to see what was concerned about during the draft and why he fell to the fifth, it's a matter of time before it becomes a major problem(perhaps 2 maybe 3 years at the most, guessing sooner rather than later based on how hard he runs the ball), I am going to say something that I know I will get creamed for....

With next season being the final one of his contract, if the medical staff knows it's a ticking time bomb that is coming within a season or two(our medical team though.. so doubtful they are aware where the medical tape is =/ ), if a team pops up with a RB injury during preseason or early season, if team can squeeze a 3rd out of the other team for him, wise move is to do it. No point in hanging onto a ticking time clock and be left with hands in the air like "huh", the franchise needs to learn who to sign, when to trade a player, etc.. Now I am not saying oh he is being held out of practice once a week(which is wise based on his running style), so trade him for sure! What I am saying is if it begins to develop into serious concern and starts to show, look into getting something in return for him.. or at the very least, don't go signing him to a crazy contract lol.

I see next years draft playing out like this (in no specific order): QB, TE, RB, DE, C

Kenyan drake is gonna get more touches I bet. Sucks because ajayi is better and on my fantasy team, but at least we have a couple good backs waiting to take some carries. I would rather see drake than williams but I admi5 williams has ran pretty hard even it its been mixed results. Ajayi has had mixed results himself and we all know it aint his fault. Maybe williams is the same issue. Either way we need to slow down on his usage a tiny bit.

I don’t like the hits Ajayi takes anyways. Dude always getting contacted in the backfield. He works way too hard for his yards because the O-line is O-verated.

Rb productive year in NFL last from 3 to 6 years. So what's new. Nothing to see here. Move on.
