We don't score enough esp in the 1st half. Just waiting for better blocking, eliminating drops and and better protection is not enough. It's the definition of insanity, waiting for this offense to unleash. Something different has to be done. I'd like to see Drake on a LB in the slot, and I'd also like to see him in the backfield, as a dual threat. Ajayi is not being taken seriously enough in the pass game. I also believe they are not utilizing Carroo correctly. He was a big play guy in 14-15, accounting for 20 td's. He actually was a deep threat and a redzone target. Is Miami utilizing him this way? Finally, KC film will show you how Hill and Hunt are contributing in the pass game. Get Grant the ball somehow.

I'm not going in to the use of individual players, but, you're right, I don't see many indications Miami attempts to scheme or take advantage of mismatches. Even if the opponent opens with 8-in-the-box, Gase usually often stays with the run. Trying to iso Drake or Williams on a LB? Not often. To be fair to Gase, that changed a little in the ATL game, so I'm not going completely postal. OTOH, even the color guys have mentioned lack of "creative" play-calling and not getting mismatches, so we're not alone.

I'm wondering if we just line up and follow a specific game plan per team we face or we just line up and follow a general game plan. I don't see this offense taking advantage of mismatches at all...

Yeah, we definitely have a problem. IMHO, our problems, in order, are LG, RG, TE, QB, DT, FS, CB, Nickel. That's not offense then defense ... that's just noting that all of our biggest needs happen to be on the offense.
Our biggest asset, IMHO, is Jay Ajayi. Our biggest waste is not investing in OL that can open up run lanes. If we had a strong run game, which is definitely possible given our stable of RB's, our passing game would improve dramatically.
I am impressed how our defense has come together now that we have 3 solid veterans manning the LB spots. Now if only we could do that at the OL and TE positions.

We're a slightly different beast out of the two TE set. It might go a long way to mitigate the Jets D-line.
It's gonna be interesting to see how Gase calls plays.
That field might come into play also, Jakeem and Stills seem to slip out of their cuts pretty regularly on comebacks and hard cuts.
But yeah, that Jets defense may suffocate us if we can't make them play honest.

I think its per team since Gase said he played more aggressive in atl because of their offense. It seems the play calling is predetermined, very vanilla and has no creativity, which is really weird considering everybody said he was a guru, and despite all the talent I have yet to see an impressive offense from Gase.

I'll agree the guard positions and TE could be improved....and we do need to draft a QB at some point in the next draft depending on who is available at the various picks.
We are solid at DT, I love the two young corners and will love the combo of McDonald and Jones.
With McDonald lining up...Jones would have more freedom I believe as McDonald could play more of the traditional strong safety role....while Jones has the athleticism in coverage.

I almost agree. OGs, TE, FS, Nickel. Could use low round draft pick for a QB, but, barring bad news on Tannehill's prognosis, he's the starter in '18. DTs and CBs, . . . I'm good. I have doubts on FS - Jones/TJ making too much to NOT play, but I'd still like a quality FS. I'd throw in OLB. Not a day one pick, but depth behind Timmons, KA.
Back to utilization, to date, Burke looks like he has a handle on it. I just don't see many schemed mismatches on O.

Great question...Good coaches make adjustments during the game, or take what the defense gives them. Very few teams are able to impose their will on a defense, you remember the Cowboys of the 90s, everyone knew the run was coming, the fans, opposing defenses even the commentators, and still it couldn't be stopped...one of the most dominant Olines in history of the league. Since we don't have that (lol) Gase has to learn to make adjustments quickly during the game, and take advantage of mismatches like you correctly stated. I find our offense is predictable and if I can see it from home, you better believe opposing defenses who study film know it backwards. Word around town is "stop Ajayi and the offense struggles or is non existent" and unfortunately this is true. Question is, don't you think with the receivers we have on this team it should be the best show on grass? If the answer is yes, the next question should be.....then why isn't it?

Just a week or two ago an opposing players said something similar to 'we knew which play was coming.' Many dismissed it because that team didn't stop it. I see it differently. I find it much more troubling the D could predict ANY plays. Yeah, too predictable.

I honestly believe that if the team fixes the offensive line that everything will come together. Not discounting that the team has other needs, but you are absolutely on target about Ajayi. This guy is a beast. Why not make it really difficult for defenses to stop him by adding some quality guards up front?

Judging by the first game, Miami is going have to pass the ball effectively in this one. Jets have zero sacks so far on the season, which I think is a bit deceiving but still pretty telling. This is one of those games where Cutler has to be a heck of a lot better. Best chance might be quick, short passes against that defense much like New England did.
I think the two tight end set will help Miami run the ball a bit better.
