Asset Utliization

We don't score enough esp in the 1st half. Just waiting for better blocking, eliminating drops and and better protection is not enough. It's the definition of insanity, waiting for this offense to unleash. Something different has to be done. I'd like to see Drake on a LB in the slot, and I'd also like to see him in the backfield, as a dual threat. Ajayi is not being taken seriously enough in the pass game. I also believe they are not utilizing Carroo correctly. He was a big play guy in 14-15, accounting for 20 td's. He actually was a deep threat and a redzone target. Is Miami utilizing him this way? Finally, KC film will show you how Hill and Hunt are contributing in the pass game. Get Grant the ball somehow.

Unfortunately, when the offensive line plays as poorly as Miami's has the other assets don't really matter that much. Simply put, the quarterback doesn't have time to throw to receivers and the running back doesn't have running lanes. Oversimplification, but a big part of the problem.

Dude you're not oversimplifying anything....you're dead on right.

How many years have we been needing OGs?

About as long as we've needed LBs?

There's a deeper pattern of neglecting team needs and not being responsive to weaknesses. From game planning & managing to drafting & free agency, there's an obvious pattern of ignoring simple assessments and fundamental football logic.

And if we are truly scaling back things due to Cutler, then why haven't we been starting Moore until Cutler was up to speed? Instead of hindering the entire offense because we are too stubborn to correctly manage our QB situation due to a man crush.

I think its per team since Gase said he played more aggressive in atl because of their offense. It seems the play calling is predetermined, very vanilla and has no creativity, which is really weird considering everybody said he was a guru, and despite all the talent I have yet to see an impressive offense from Gase.
No one ever called him a guru.... beside the QB whisperer QB guru thing.

Carroo is not going to outrun any DB in the NFL like he did in college.

According to Gase theres too many mistakes being made in offense every play that break them down. If thats true it makes sense that he dumbed the offense down a lot in the first few games at least to help the offense play without thinking... which would really help explain why the bad jets and bad saints defenses were playing so fast, because they didnt have to think. It works both ways unfortunately.

He needs to dumb it down more. Those bubbles with Stills blocking? DUMB. Oh wait, that's not the players.

Its year 2 just getting going with Gase most of our starters were not playing for us 16 months ago, plus the starting QB went down. Yea the road is bumpy but we are 2/2 and look to be improving. Next year I will get concerned if we are at this same place.

I honestly believe that if the team fixes the offensive line that everything will come together. Not discounting that the team has other needs, but you are absolutely on target about Ajayi. This guy is a beast. Why not make it really difficult for defenses to stop him by adding some quality guards up front?
I completely agree. Just look at how the defense is blossoming when our offense dominates time of possession. Even when we don't score, if we limit our defense's snap count they are proving to be more effective. Just imagine if we could dominate time of possession and score. That's what a solid run game does.

Against the Falcons we did exactly what the Patriots did to them in the Super Bowl ... we took the plays they gave us, ran a bunch of plays until their speed-based defense wore down and then racked up the points. If we had Dallas' offensive line, we would be one of the most dominating offenses in the NFL, even with Tannehill out injured. If we also had a two-way threat at TE ... this offense could really be special. I realize it doesn't look like it now, but really, those two elements (OL + TE) are crippling what could be a great group of skill positioned players.

His offense couldn't be more boxed in and scored 0 points in basically 12 quarters, yet you want him to box it in more?

Yet he used the same excuse last year before Ajayi went nuts, starting to think those "mistakes" are him refusing to take any risks and him thinking if they play perfect you don't have to. Teams play fast and close because they know what is coming, that's his fault for not adapting, which has nothing to do with the players. When you score 0 for 12 quarters in a row basically, its on you as the oc, no ifs ands or butts for that level of ineptitude. I don't understand how people can believe its the players when the offense is that bad.

Its like a car salesman trying to sell you a totalled car and telling you it's fine, it just has a few nicks. I think a lot of people here would buy that car sadly.

We could use more established guards but i think this oline is good enough to support a respectable offense, absolutely better than what we saw before the 2nd half in ATL. When clicking they can run the ball over guys. Passing game being an actual threat will really help make that happen more often. Cut out mistakes like drops, drive killing avoidable penalties that get us into 2nd and 20, and yes keep working on the play calling and Cutler in the offense. Oline can be better on alot of NFL teams, they need to get it done im sick of expecting top tier players at every spot on the line to field a decent offense.

Houston's oline looked historically bad with Tom Savage back there...like no hope at all bad. But all of sudden with a decent QB (mobility helps of course) they aint so bad.

I thought the reasoning for Cutler over Kaepernick made sense at the time. Cutler knew Gase's offense so it was supposed to be a somewhat seamless transition. Kaepernick would have taken maybe five games, much like Tannehill last year, to learn the offense.

Well, here we are after five games and have to believe Kaepernick would have been the better choice. His athletic ability would help make up for the deficiencies on the offensive line.

Cutler's what Miami has so hopefully his play the rest of the way will be close to what we saw in the second half versus Atlanta.
