Adam Gase on Matt Moore.

Problem is that some of these previous "top producers" are not top producers. Manning is physically unable anymore and Cutler is a never was. I am in business (retail), and I've seen a lot of new general managers fail when they assemble a team of guys they know and have worked with and underrate the staff they already have in place and don't really give them a shot or are unable to get the best out of them.

I actually can fault the decision with Cutler and did from the get go. We needed another QB but he brought in the one guy who would only come in if he were paid a high amount and would have to be the uncontested starter. If situations were different and Cutler wasn't retired and willing to come in and compete, great. It makes sense. But giving him a starting job when you already had a guy who could perform really backup him into a corner that hopefully he can be smart about if Moore plays well. And heck, even if Moore only musters 10 points on a short week, that 3 more than Cutler got in two weeks.

Umm. . You're writing as if we had a group of qb's to choose from lol

The only one that made sense was Cutler.. if you don't see that, I can't help you.

Ps. Retail sales and a sales team are two totally different animals.

It’s always grass is greener withalot of these fans. I like Moore, but a lot of the same people screaming for Moore to start over Cutler are the same people that were screaming for Moore to start over Tannehill.

Not true. I'm a die hard Tannehill fan. He was the clear cut better choice between any of them.

The fact is, the offense was anemic under Cutler and Moore was the reason they won that game. Cutler has been atrocious all season long.

Everything clicked when Moore went in. Week after week Cutler was short of 200 yards and the master of the 3 and out. Moore went in with less than a full half and out did any performance Cutler had put up this season

He did try to pass off the team's energy as a routine back up QB rally around. It was more than that. Armando saw it if you read his article, and I'd say he's pretty even keeled.

It's kind of moot now since we'll see Moore Thursday - even if Gase was convinced today who knows what happens against Balt to change his or our minds...that said, it would take a 5 int performance from Moore for me to start calling for Cutler.

Maybe that is what we need?

Look, no one likes turnovers, but if the resulting offense is one that plays so scared that we never take chances with the ball, then we get the garbage that we have been seeing all season.

Take more risks, push the ball downfield. Yes, we will have turnovers, but we will also have many more scoring opportunities that will let us overcome those turnovers. But it will also soften up defenses and allow us to pound the ball on the ground as well.

If we stick with this scared brand of football we have been playing we are way too easy to gameplan against, and shut down.

This exactly. The funny thing is is once you open up your offense it actually becomes safer by making the short and intermediate passes less guarded and Ajayi doesn't have to get through 3 extra guys just to get to the los. Also, once you open it up you don't have to risk it all the time, just a decent amount to keep them honest and you can play safe when needed because there are appropriate times to play it safe. However, none of this is available to you if you don't try to win.

Well for one I said retail sales as a way to simplify things when my work is a lot more complicated than a retail outlet and involves leases and accounts and account management. But still, the concept is the same. If you bring in good people you know, it just makes sense, but when you're bringing in bad people, it doesn't. Cutler was out of the league for a reason.

I don't ever think bringing in somebody who is not good as uncontested starter is a viable option. Of Cutler's 100 starts in Chicago I watched a good 60 of them, plus a couple playoff games. The guy simply was one who singlehandedly lost games for years even when he did have playmaking ability, and he lost that over time. He also lost the desire to play which was evident in his play here.

I mean, last year Adam Gase brought in a guy who was one of the league's top playmakers at RB. He was a guy dangerous both as a runner and a pass catcher. The problem was that he lost his burst before he tore his achilles and still Gase started him. Jay Cutler isn't what he used to be either, and sadly what he used to be was only rarely good and still marked by some of the biggest buffoonery and lack of inspiration from any starting QB in the league.

So who would have you had Gase bring in that was a more sensible option?

Brock Osweiler. Anybody who doesn't downgrade your starting QB position by bringing them in. Sure it makes sense if you want to talk about having two QB's to bring in a guy like Cutler. But unfortunately only one is on the field and I don't believe in downgrading your starter...especially in a situation where its impossible to backtrack from.

If Gase takes the chance to recognize Cutler's lackluster play and use the injury as an excuse to put him on the bench without losing face, then its a great move. Know that Cutler will get injured like he always has and be willing to move away from him if the situation merits it. Or on the chance that he does play well, then you've got a good starter and a good backup. But if Gase isn't willing to go away from Cutler then its a terrible, terrible move.
