Post Game Thoughts - @Carolina

Yep we are in for a ride and, Gase is to hope he recognizes that also

Titans game tickets were floating in the sub $20 region that Sunday morning.

I am thinking we would of saw that happen this week but there are likely enough fans willing to make the 3-4 drive from the Tampa area to keep them stable in that $40 area.

Welp tickets are under $30 and dropping. Hell may end up going at this rate lol

Yea TJ came to play but he took on the metality of the entire defense and pretty much took their ball and went home in the second half.

He will be fun to watch.

the zone read scrape and fill was horrendous

I have a feeling the downward trend with the d is gonna continue

That was the worse coached second half by a Dolphins defensive coordinator since I can remember . . . .and that is saying something. The first time all year I really felt Burke was "not ready".

I saw Vance make adjustments all year last season with far lesser personnel. Burke's teams just come out flat and unprepared. Maybe the defense is just overly depressed by the poor offense but if that trend continues I don't see how you can bring him back.

And going back to Gase, god how on earth do you tell Cutler to throw on first down at his own 20 yardline with 50 seconds to go in the first half, down 3, against the #1 defense in the NFL, on the road. Carolina only had two timeouts . . . Half was over. He completely botched any hopes with that stupid decision. That isn't something I try with Tannehill, let alone Jay Cutler.

You either run the ball or have some secure dumpoff to sniff it out and likely get to halftime.

Gase can crutch the QB this year, but it doesn't excuse the fact that he has been piss poor as head coach and playcaller this year. He seriously needs to decide on one function or the other.

I could have understood calling that pass play if,Cutler had been throwing well. But, after seeing his previous body of work that game . . .

Well thats just it. That is not Aaron Rodgers back there and thats not an offense that has shown to do something like that with any type of consistency. Just a dumbfounding decision . . . One that clearly displays the weaknesses of having Gase as the OC and the HC.

To add to that the Panthers were one of the best teams at scoring before the half. The announcer made mention of it right before we stopped them and forced the punt. Very poor choice by Gase to make sure that the Panthers never saw the ball again in the 2nd quarter.

you make a lot of good points in your post and i appreciated your perspective.

on this however, i had to respond because i made this point earlier in the thread.

this argument about ed reed and so forth carries weight in college, but not the pros. these are grown men with lots of money and they'll do what they please. football is the ultimate team game. if you have 10 bad apples you are doomed.

it even extends to the coaching staff. (forester).

the only way to combat it is a superman at quarterback who demands respect and hard work because you don’t want to let him down, and his ability is such that it can overcome shortcomings. or, a superman at head coach that does the same.

this is what gase was referring to in his press conference a few weeks ago when he said it starts with our best players having to take it home and own it.

yes temptation exists everywhere but it’s amplified times 100 in miami. very different than seattle, denver, boston, pittsburgh, or some of the other recent successful franchises.

i just think this will be an unwinnable battle unless we get that qb like a manning or brady that can demand hard work on and off the field.

A healthy return will seem like superman QB play after watching this years QB play.

The disturbing thing about the Panthers game is that the Panthers have been largely impostors in 2017, much like the Dolphins were through the first six games of the season.

Coming into last week's game the Panthers' YPA differential was zero (6.8 offense, 6.8 opposing teams), and their turnover margin was -8.

Based on league data between 2004 and 2016, those numbers are associated with an expected record of 4-5 through nine games, yet the Panthers were 6-3.

In other words, this was a team that was significantly weaker than its record would lead one to believe, much like the Dolphins were after six games, and could therefore be beaten unexpectedly.

Under those conditions, one would expect the Dolphins to be at least competitive. They weren't, however, losing by 24 points as we know.

That suggests major dysfunction for the Dolphins. They didn't get beaten soundly by a "true" 6-3 team. They got beaten soundly by a team that was playing far more like a roughly .500 team.

And of course the Dolphins themselves are roughly .500, but what this game (among other things) suggests is that they're playing far worse than even that.

I don't agree with that was a bad call by gase before the half...he calls the play the qb is the one that threw that pass...if he didn't like the flex corner route he has to throw the ball to the flats...3 timeouts 47 seconds left time to get in fg range...that's just one of the progression options there are other ones...although it is a primary

but that's not a play caller fail it's a qb one. especially for those saying "why won't gase let cutler throw the ball down the field?" well I think you got your answer why we play it so close to the vest...

anyways the scrape and fill stuff is a communication issue between the scrape/fill lb and the de edge...they have to be on the same page...they weren't...that part of things I see as correctable...whats killing us on d right now is we aren't getting enough pressure and hits on the qb and as a result it's exposing our secondary and lack of range with the interchangeable safeties play in coverage

looked to me like kiko was making calls pre snap at the los and the dline wasn't getting them thus all the guys not in the right gaps

if this teams giving up 200 plus yards on the ground with the all the run first assignments of the lbs and boundary corners they have no chance of covering anyone...and it showed

It wasn't a bad call by Gase the OC.

It was a bad decision by Gase the HC, who needed to understand how vital it was to get to halftime after that win on defense, knowing how unlikely it was that this offense and this QB was going to get into FG range under the circumstances in front of them. That throw was way too high risk for the situation. It shouldn't have been on the table to begin with.

He was, and I was able to hear some of it, it was just like nobody understood. And no it was in English, not Spanish. It was not just the DLine, it was safeties ETC. No one appeared to know what was going on :hurting

I'm kind of tempted to go for under 20 bucks. Good chance to win a game vs the shitty Bucs and hopefully Brent Grimes will get roasted so that Miko can have another twitter meltdown about it.

I'll have to think of a sign that I can appropriately ridicule Jameis Winston with that would actually make it through the gate.

I watched WWE Raw instead. Never before would I have said that but I struggle these days to watch genuine athletes, effort and reality so i went Wrestling. I did fall asleep after 30mins but having seen Phins result...MEH! This team is killing my enthusiasm. I'm actually watching other games and rooting for teams that should not be even close to my radar. It's depressing that the team I've supported for 32yrs no matter what results.. is suddenly becoming a sidenote and a team that defines losing. I used to bleed Marino Aqua and Shula Orange but this ownership has sucked the life out of me. If Ross prefers a London game to guarantee a Superbowl then fair play to him. (Keerrching!) I'm old skool. I just want the team i started supporting as a 14yrs old to get back to the days that made me take up the sport and supporting them. If the Miami Dolphins were a sport it would be Winter Olympics and Downhill Skiing.
I'm getting old so please forgive but last time Dolphins got to the Superbowl I was 14yrs old. Like I said...I'm getting old. -
