What has been the deal with him? He was graded to go in the 3rd round, so we steal him in the 5th. I hope our o-line coach can coach him up, because he is one powerful beast. If he can be a starter next year, this will eliminate the need to draft one early in the draft and we can just go defense early on. Anyone have any info?

Miami is the only team in tank mode that won't play a guy like this to properly evaluate what they have

The coach's have said- he is not ready...

Asiata is building his strength to compete at the NFL level. He said, in school I was really strong, in the NFL everybody's strong.

On our team that mean he is a pro-bowler in the wings. We didn't think Tankersly was ready and he is our best CB, Jay Ajayi wasn't ready last year, and he was a probowler. Parker wasn't ready 3 years ago, until Mathews went down, and he torched the final 6 games. We have nothing to lose to have him replace Bushrod, and see what happens. You can't go any lower than the worst oline in football.

We need to do the same with Anthony at LB. Kiko is a liability every time he is on the field. It can't really get worse, so its worth a shot.

I am convinced we have the worst judge of talent in the NFL.

My problem with him not being ready is how much more "ready" will he ever get if he doesn't play? There are so few padded practices now in the NFL, and he isn't going to gain the needed experience from sitting on the bench. Unless of course he has just looked god awful in camp/practices and nobody wants to say it.

I want to see him play, too.
Why not see how he really does!?

A couple more losses and there are a number of people I want to see in games. As for Asiata, any competent coach can watch a player and conclude, say, 'he's a good player, but needs a little more strength,' but, at least, give him and others the opportunity to show what's attainable.

No expert here, but it looks to me like Asiata is very top heavy, has no backside, and therefore can't anchor against the rush. I am guessing (more like hoping) our front office may have wanted someone else, but since they dicked around so much during the draft, Asiata was all that was left. At first I was hopeful Grier would be a decent GM, but now I question if he knows what the heck he is doing. Trading the farm for Carroo, drafting a guy in Grant who obviously is too small and can't make it on the field except as a returner, etc.. The list goes on and on...

We are the Dolphins so we should not expect the team to make the right moves. When they make a good move then great but we can't expect it. Before Asiata even gets out there I'd like to see Brendel at Center for a whole game but Gase think Pouncey is really Stevenson. Why are we starting a guy that can't even practice is beyond me. At this point the O-line should be
Tunsil-Larsen(career back up)Brendel-Asiata-Davis. We should try to see what we got there but it's not going to happen. Heck at this point I'd start Fales and if he sucks, so what? What exactly do we have to lose?

Ozzy rules!!

You know when we are down 3 or more touchdowns it might be a good idea to play guys like Asiata. I get the NFL doesn't work that way but I think some limited game time experience is helpful even if you are riding the boards 95% of the time. Take that limited experience and use it to improve physically and mentally in prep for year 2.

Building his strength? He was already one of the most if not the most powerful o-lineman in the 2017 draft. Strength is NOT an issue with him. Stamina was.

Based on what? There aren't many strength tests administered at the combine or on pro-days. The bench press is one of many muscle groups, and hardly the most important one when it comes to blocking.

Grier is the equivalent of a front office "journeyman" who's more than Peter Principle'd out. If not convenient to serve as Tannenbum's useful idiot, he'd still be making mediocre college level talent judgments until a good GM was allowed to come in and clear house.

Tannenbum? He's the cancer from within. Willing to take a demotion to Capologist for the NYJ if incoming replacements didn't express discomfort with him still being in the building, no one else in the collective wisdom of the league wanted any part of him until Ross went dumpster diving. Can you imagine a Fortune 500 company hiring even a manager from a competing company that left them in shambles... not to mention actually promoting him to that division's highest echelon? Un****ingreal! Yes, Ross, hired someone to run the organization who was viewed by the Jets as the equivalent of Dawn Apponte.
