General NCAA thread

It certainly is possible. Hell, even the student newspaper called for it.

If the interim AD or interim president (whomever is picking the interim coach) can get a good one (Tom Crean is out there) this team can still make a Final 4 this season. Even without Bowen they're still a top 15 roster. That's the bad thing in all this: we didn't even need Bowen. We already had 2 good NBA prospect wings playing his spot in King and Adel.

We're potentially getting the death penalty for doing two stupid things in getting some sleazy escorts (that didn't even help recruiting and in one case actually DROVE a recruit away) and getting a player that the roster didn't even really need. Things are great right now: my university is being dragged through the mud, the Fins are soft, Trump is trying to raise my taxes, and the main water pipe into my basement is leaking. Things are just peachy.

Butch did a lot of good at Tennessee and really improved the talent, but he's just not able to take that next step, and sucks in SEC play. Part of that is the inability to develop a QB.

If they make a move, I'd back a truckload of money up to West Lafeyette and do whatever I could to get Jeff Brohm

One thing to keep an eye on: If Tom Jurich is officially fired as AD here at Louisville (that's not a for sure thing yet), Bobby Petrino's buyout gets cut in half. I don't know that he's particularly beholden to Louisville as he is to Jurich. He'll want to stay close though, so I could see him leaving for Knoxville. We would then go get Brohm to coach here at his alma mater. There's already rumblings here in Bobby's second tenure. He's 1-8 against ranked teams.

I'll tell you who really impressed me for Syracuse tonight, besides #8 Ishmael, is their quarterback. Not afraid to throw the ball outside the hashes or into traffic in the middle of the field.

What a hell of an upset.

If you're wondering what's going on with Louisville, here's your answer:

https://www.cardchronicle.com/2017/...fense-is-a-mess-and-bobby-petrino-is-to-blame

This was my concern all along about rehiring Bobby Petrino. He's never recruited players, especially defensive players, at a super high level. He missed on a lot of guys while at Arkansas and he's missing on guys here to U of L. This last class had a grand total of 1 defensive lineman in it. One. Uno. And that DE was a 2 star. Then you add to that the fact that he's doesn't want much to do with the defense and you've got a recipe for a disaster. The guys he is getting here aren't panning out. Well, Keith explains it best in the article above. But boy, Bobby sure can recruit him some WRs and QBs though.

Offense is for show, defense is for dough.

What's the word on his tenure? Is your AD out? Does that cut his buyout in half and if it does, do you think he'll get fired?

The AD's fate won't be decided until Wednesday, I think. The board fired Rick Pitino yesterday.

I can tell you that fans are NOT happy with Bobby. Bobby 2.0 as he's called around here just isn't getting it done. His best coaching job was his first season back. The only notable wins he has are FSU last season and Texas A&M in the Music City Bowl a couple of years ago. He's 1-9 against top 25 competition since he's been back and he lost to UK at home last season (unacceptable). If Jurich is let go as AD, his buyout gets cut in half and I think Bobby finds a new job. U of L doesn't want to pay that then $4.5 mil buyout so I don't think they'll fire him, just let him walk to Tennessee or some other school.

Congrats brother, y'all outplayed us again.

Really good first half in FIU/FAU.

I am so impressed with what Butch Davis has done at FIU right now. Just focusing on solid, fundamental football has turned them around very quickly.

Duke fans love David Cutcliffe. Bowl eligible for the 5th time in 6 years and is all but guaranteed to retire there. Rumors are that he told Tennessee thanks, but no thanks on their opening.

Obviously Duke isn't a better job than Tennessee, but just a better fit for Cutcliffe in this stage of his life.

I personally have a ton of respect for him.
