To Eat,Or Not To Eat? That Is The Question

After Ross screwed up by hiring (and keeping) Philbin, a complete housecleaning and rebuild was needed when Philbin was fired. But, Ross screwed up again. Not only did he keep Tannenbaum, he promoted him to VP and they hired another Head Coach just like Philbin! These idiots have wasted far too much money with nothing to show for it. Suh may be a good player, but I would have never given him that much money; they would have been better off paying three other players instead of mortgaging their future for one guy. Draft picks are necessary to build a good foundation, yet Ireland and Tannenbaum give/trade them away like they grow on trees, and too often the picks they did make were wasted.

I say throw in the towel and declare a full rebuild and complete housecleaning. Say good-bye to all of the overpaid players like Suh, James, Pouncey, Alonso, and others and just eat the money next year. Get a new VP, GM, Front Office, Scouting Department, and Coaching Staff. Sure, they'll suck for a while, but they already do so what's the difference? The longer they wait to rebuild and clean house, the longer it will be before the team is relevant again.

I can't even write what I really think about Ross right now, I'd have the FBI after me.

I see it differently. I see exploitable holes on O and D that other teams now know how to attack. Why attack a strength when you don't have to? The rebuilding process is far from done, to this point we have been plugging holes. I doesn't help that some of out draft choices haven't panned out (Phillips, DVP, D. Thomas, Martin, etc...) But there's always a certain percentage that just won't, period. So in 2+ years we have added pieces but, this franchise was so run down it's going to take more than 3 years of near perfect drafting to fix the mess. That does not account for injuries, but every team has them. So, until we fill holes at LB, FS OL, OL, &OL even the decent players will get tired, or frustrated, (or both) and play with less effort (or give the **** up), especially if you have JC at QB giving out early presents. At least they play hard for Moore (Bless his heart) but he's also too much of a giving person. Get #17 back, our MLB to see if he can play, and play youngsters, to see if they can play....And wait 'till next year.

Why, because it would be completely fabricated bullshit?

If you really want to kiss his wrinkled old ass so much, why not write him a letter or show up at his office. Billionaires love sycophants sucking up.

No, but I do take an objective look at things and realize that he is a pretty good owner and that if it were not for the QB getting hurt before the season we would not be having these insane conversations.

Kiko is not going anywhere (Unless some team attempts make a crazy trade for him) ...next.

I think we are stuck with what we've got. The defense has shown it can work, but they aren't built to play from behind or play for tons of plays. We dont have the depth. Also Burke needs to stay aggressive. He started the season aggressively but has recently turned into Vance Joseph. This defense works best when we blitz and disguise our coverages. Actually thats the only way it works. Theres more risk to getting burned for a td, but hey, at least you give up the td quickly instead of drawing it out for 11 plays. If we don't get fancy with our defensive calls we are simply and bend then break defense.

I can tell you Timmons wont be back. Either will julius Thomas, fasano, bushrod, possibly Juwuan James, maybe Larsen, pouncey (probably retire) or nate allen. Damien Williams might stay. Grant is probably gone. Youth movement coming big time. I think jones, suh, and RT are about the only vets I care to keep.

Branch and Kiko are safe just because of the contracts they are on. The 2 veterans on offense that should be on notice are Pouncey and James. I see Pouncey as being forced to restructure his contract to stay on this team and James may very well be waived because of the play of Jesse Davis, this kid came out of no where and is turning himself into a decent right tackle over the last 2 games. If he continues to play well James is gone.

On defense, Wake should start to become a bit worried. He has been invisible the last 4 games and doesn't cost us much to move on, Phillips also has a lot on the line and personally I think will be released. Timmons will be gone at linebacker and I would think they would approach Kiko about a restructure to the current deal and see what he says. Jones may also be forced to look into a restructure due to the start he had this year.

The big changes to some of these players won't happen until after 2018 just because of how the guaranteed money worked out. This is the penalty teams play for investing money in the wrong players.
I hate the idea of keeping pouncey even as a restructure.

It's a tough one to answer. There's part of me that says just blow the whole thing up and start over, kind of the football version of what happened with the Houston Astros.

Then I look at what must be the worst offensive line in football and think what if the team just fixed that next offseason? Where would Miami be? With Ryan Tannehill returning would the Dolphins then be a contender? And by fix, I mean upgrades that move the unit vastly forward to at least league average. That might take two premium draft picks, or one premium draft pick and a significant free agent addition.

I see next year as a crucial one for Adam Gase. In a sense last years' 10-6 was a mirage and set expectations too high. Gase, though, deserves credit for getting a team that was banged up with injuries and started so pathetically into the playoffs. This year hasn't been kind to him and I think he made a mistake trading Ajayi.

My guess is the team keeps Alonso and Branch. But, I would bet that they let Timmons go. The Dolphins need to add speed on defense and hopefully can do that over the next few offseasons and replace some of these guys.

I agree that if RT hadn’t gotten hurt, we would not be discussing this again this season, having said that, I truly believe that Ross is the single biggest problem with this team. He is a good owner financially, but his decisions on management and personnel are what really tarnish his impact. I think he is in over his head in this department, and unfortunately, the wrong people have his ear. He may eventually get it right, but it will be an uphill battle. Even if Gase turns out to be the head coach we hope he can be, he will still be hurt by poor drafting and cap management with Tannenbaum at the helm. Clearly Ross wants to win and he is awesome when it comes spending money, he just needs to figure out who should and shouldn’t be listened to for hiring.

You can't cut Branch or Kiko. It'd cost more to cut them than to keep them and who is Chase Anderson?

Ozzy rules!!

But we CAN trade them, that actually frees up $10.5 million in cap space.

I thought Brendel looked really good when he filled in for Pouncey earlier this season. I wonder if he has real potential to be a starter in the near future?
