That was a safety

Fitzpatrick was clearly in the end zone when he was first contacted by a Dolphins player.

That call was the most crooked nonsense I’ve ever seen. And the best part is that it was reviewed by NFL home office. Utterly laughable.

Right up there with the Steelers call... absolutely pathetic I really don't know how these refs can get away with this shirt without losing their jobs or at least getting fined!

It was a safety all day long. Everyone knew that from Stockton, Periera, to Schlereth - there was no explanation that could have made sense - he ran into his own guy, got bumped backward into the EZ and then tackled completely in the EZ. Ridiculous.

Anyone have a video? I'm trying to show a friend. The highlight videos convenintly skip this play. Hmmmmm.....
Funny that no one is showing it. Just like that illegal batting play on Vernon vs New England a few years back. No one talked about it or showed it in the highlights.

Yeah your own player cannot stop your own momentum. Never heard of that crap.

I’ve spoken about that play so many times. Another play that I’ve never gotten over was the Darren Sharper clear fumble on an interception return when the Dolphins were smoking the Saints. Lost control of the ball at the 2 yard line and it was called a TD. Classic Sports Illustrated photo of it. Let’s not forget the Roethlisberger fumble. This non-safety is right up there.

I have that sports illustrated issue. It shows sharper clear as day losing that ball before he scores for what should have been a touchback.

Yeah anyone , other than the idiot refs and the moron who made the BS confirmation in New York , could see than Fitzpatrick was knocked back completely into the endzone by his own teammate and then tackled by the Dolphins with his whole body including the entire ball completely in the endzone. No question that was a safety.

I wish it was referee incompetence, but it's not. It's that the fix was in and anyone with eyes and a brain can plainly see it. Of course, that was a safety, they just took it away from us. Football is the new Boxing. Too much money was flying around for corruption not to happen. I feel sad about it because sports is where we go for escape from the bull crap of the world. I don't think this goes all the way to Goddell but there are some very bad apples. They'll get caught and it will come out.

It doesn't matter anymore.
No truer words have been spoken about the 'phins over the last 17 years. We are an after thought in the league. A stepping stone for the "elites". I have no clue how this can change. Sad, very sad.

Just playing devil's advocate here....if this was a runner diving at the sticks for a first down, wouldn't they spot the ball where is forward progress was, even if he was bumped back by his own guy?

No. Not unless the refs were incompetent or fixing the game.

It was definitely a safety. The replay clearly showed it, so I have no idea what those refs were looking at. I would have liked an explanation of their ruling, but of course, there was none. There also were very few replays during the game which was a bit odd.

I'm not into the conspiracy thing, but the pure volume of penalties is ruining the game.....many of they are petty and non-impactful on the play itself.
