Jay Cutler will start if healthy

I wonder if Gase isn't a step ahead of the anti-Cutler posters and some of our opponents.

Cutler has been better than his receivers and a lot better than his offensive line. I noticed that Moore (whom I like) is more effective coming in during a game than he has been starting them. If I noticed this, then I bet Gase has too. If he feels that starting Cutler and relieving him with Moore if necessary is our best option, he certainly has recent game history on his side.

Many of you forget that a players most important ability is availability. Cutler has an obligation to the team and to the coaches when he is the starter to remain functional and this means avoiding hits - if he can. We are only two broken plays away from loosing both Cutler and Moore to injuries in the same game. When that happens we are down to 3rd level QBs. Some folks here seem to feel that's an improvement. I do not agree.

As for the clairvoyants on this forum who can determine all QB's ability from their facial expressions - all I can say is baloney!

wow, cmon gase...matt moore might not be great but i think its clear who can operate the offense enough for it to be somewhat functional...this is just ridiculous, trotting cutler out there is a slap in the face to the fans, especially the ones who shell out their hard earned money to go to the games...
Agreed. Cmon is right. The passing game works w Moore in there and dare I say it looks easy. All the receivers get involved. Look no further than Stills who, w Cutler, you forget is even on the team. Moore comes in and Stills catches bombs. That 3rd and 10 61 yard bomb was beautiful by Moore looking off the safety. Cutty cannot make that play. This is such a slap. Doesn’t Gase see the offense is impotent w Jay and functional w Matt?

Exactly. People need to accept this and stop pretending anything Gase does or doesn't do or whoever he starts or doesn't start makes any difference this year. He isn't getting fired, nor should he. It's a lost year. Accept it and move on. Gase's seat will be plenty hot if we're in this same position with a healthy Tannehill this time next year.
You still owe it to your players to start the guyS that give you the best chance to win. Otherwise you risk losing the locker room. The players know which guy that is. You think Stills believes Cutty should be in there? The oline protects Moore better than Jay. That tells you they respect him IMO.

And this is why Gase has to go. Sorry, didn't think it last season, but these type of decisions a good head coach does not make

This is about limitations in what gase can call due to the qb more than anything else

Play book more limited with moore

There is no answer in 2017

No but there is probably a faction of the lockerroom that gave him the benefit of the doubt when he named Cutler the starter over Moore, and that faction is probably getting more and more annoyed by the minute. Gase is digging his own grave with his unwavering support of smokey the bear.

I don’t agree that we can base one start on a short week against Balt as “moore isn’t a starter”. His stats in that game were about the same as Jay anyway. And Moore has a better starters winning % than Cutty going back to his Carlolina days, which is impressive as he played on worse teams (panthers, us) than Jay (broncos and bears). Cutty is done. Don’t start him unless you actually are trying to lose out for the draft slot.

Gase has already said he knows what he can call with Moore. Basically a Matt Moore package.

That’s pretty much the definition of what limitations at qb are

It’s not like any of this matters though.

Hoops, you are a great poster and I have a ton of respect for your football knowledge but I fail to see this right now. With Cutty in there we don’t dial up any variety - just little dunks and bubble screens. Moore can throw those and he can launch it deep so I’m struggling to see evidence of a more broad play book w cuntler playing over Moore.

This is what I’ve been worried about too.

Coverage reads pre snap ids and protections it’s not even close who the better option is.

But Moore’s execution as a passer is better post snap. No argument there.

But it’s still not good enough

We passed the ball at about a 55 percent clip yesterday both qbs when competent qb play given how many guys we had open is gonna be at the 70 percent clip.

We should have had a 75 percent passer yesterday if we made good on tbe plays that were there to be made

I’ll be watching. I like watching New England dissect teams with flawless execution. Cutler starting increases the odds New England covers. Easy money.
