Dolphins Should Cut Jay Cutler After Terrible Performance Against the Bucs

I could see Tannenbaum trading for Tyrod Taylor in the offseason.

Gase isn't going to cut his buddy. Cutler will play out the year as long as he is healthy. The season is over anyway. Only thing that has come out of this is Gase may have lost some of the players on the team. Gase has lost the support of some of the fanbase. The team's weaknesses were exposed even more so without a competent QB behind center. Now we all see how far the team truly is from competing.

The hit would be so bad it would literally cost more to cut them than keep them. Branch cost 11.9 mil in cap space next year, but 13.8 if we cut him. Alonso has a 13.2 cap number next year, but it goes up to 13.55 if we cut him. Neither are realistic cuts, it's almost literally better to bench them all year then cut them in 2019, just to save cap. Their contracts are that bad :wall
Neither scenario is a good one but I still say cut your losses. Those guys are bringing nothing to the field of play. Kiko acts like he is playing in slow motion. I'll admit he played better last year. Miami's sunshine must be too much for him plus that money he got from TBum.

I might agree with Kiko that it would be better to just rip the band aid off if he continues to play like dog S. I still have hope for Branch though. The guy is a great athlete, young, and in a critical position for the 4-3. He too has had a disappointing season, but he provides value simply by being a big fast athlete that tries hard, even if his overall game is underwhelming and he is overpaid. Kiko on the other hand is looking like Phillip Wheeler out there with that low football IQ, and that absolutely is killing our team.

Just when we were finally getting that Jonathan Martin stink off the team...

Haha and to be more hated than him says a lot!! I truly believe getting Tannehill back (if healthy) will make this offense look like night and day. Matt Moore does for god sakes lol Our whole team rallied with Moore in. They couldn't have cared less with Cutler. Sucks to be like that as players but I guess you want the QB of your team to actually look like he cares. I laugh when they act like the concussion was a real thing and not an excuse to bench the bum. I know a lot don't like Gase (right now) and yes he screwed up but at least he took a chance to salvage our season. In hindsight it looks idiotic but imagine how pissed we'd be if we didn't even try and just kept Moore lol 6 more games of this bum and it's over thank god!!

Actually in hindsight, Gase should have recognized this as a lost season once Tannehill was out. Out years are far more important than this year.

As for Cutler, I've read you people for 5 years talking about how Tannehill was pissing blood because of the oline. Well we got a old vet back there with cracked ribs and a concussion....and you lob nothing but hate. All the while the offensive lineman have remained consistent in being consistently bad.

If Moore starts against NE, 40-0 is the bar or expected result since Moore has his own issues in identifying a blitz.

Let’s be real. Moore behind the same o-line played 2 halves of football better than any 2 Jay has put together this year. Ravens game was a short week against a team that beat us 38-6 w Tannehill last year so I don’t think that’s the mark. Cutler sucked before he got his ribs hit or his head “concussed”. He has been abysmal all year. He can’t hit anyone deep - I think the only catches Stills has are when Moore has played lol.

My point is....a pocket passer was brought in to run a offense that depended on a mobile QB in 2016. Add the fact the offensive line didn't improve during that time, and we get what we get on any given Sunday from these losers.

The folly was believing this offensive line could keep a pocket passer clean. Your folly is thinking Moore with teams able to game plan him....will and do lead to similar outcomes.

My point stands though, for 5 years you people have written off Tannehill lack of success to his CS and personnel. And now when you see a pocket passer getting pummeled on a consistent basis, is it any wonder Cutler hasn't succeeded?

Well, I’ve been supportive of Tannehill over the years and have said we can win a SB w him. As for Moore and people game planning him - why is his career winning % better than Cutler’s? Yeah it’s a shade over 50% while Jay’s is sub 50% (playing on some good teams). What I’m trying to say is game planning Suckler is easier than Moore right now as Cutler doesn’t threaten to put the ball over the top of the D. I don’t think it’s folly to believe that Moore running the offense would lead to more production from the unit than Jay over the course of the season. Cutler has zero left IMO.

And this is why I have the opinion that A. Gase must go at the end of the year. This is a simple case of the Non football people knowing more than the football people. The reality is, when RT went down, the year was over, it's very simple. At that point you "cut your losses short" do the best you can with what you have, but what does AG do, he adds to the problems by using some sort of football equivalent to a "martingale" strategy, by adding losing decision on top of loosing decision, first JC for 10mio and then firing Ajayi, and make no mistake, Ajayi was fired, in a football sense, but none the less fired. Who could have confidence in Joe Phailbin, oh sorry, Adam Gase, at this point, there is nothing in his or this teams recent past that indicates to me that AG can pull this fat out of the fire. As far as which J.C. shows up on any given day, I think this has been asked since he weirded out in Denver, and yes I have heard it more than once since he has been with the Phins.

But wait, the O line is better.

The Ever Sarcastic VIPER

On the other hand maybe he's a genius, maybe his evil genius plan was to bring Cutler in to elevate fans confidence in Tannehill, he "whispered" to him 'play as bad and conservative as you can, do that and the "fans" will be begging for us to extend Tannehill. Here is $10 million to keep this between us.'

Dolphin QBs have been sacked 18 times, which good for 9th in the league. Ironically, pass protection might be the teams best attribute.

This is one of the biggest things I hate about football. It’s slways just the last thing you saw period. Like any team that’s ever gameplanned for Matt Moore has won 40-0 period, case closed. If I point out big wins vs the Jets and Bills last year it’s, those teams suck. If I point out Tannehill had the same task setup for him once (beat a bad Jets and Bills team make the playoffs) and failed I’m an idiot it’s a team game. Christmas Eve a few years back we went into NE with Matt Moore at QB and he played pretty well but we lost 27-24, not 40-0. The point I’m trying to make is there really isn’t much difference between the 2 QB’s and Moore has looked better when he goes in for relief. I think gauging his whole career off the Baltimore game is short sighted as he took 0 practice reps the prior week and had 1 walkthrough practice before the game. Why not pick the 4 TD Jets game to define his whole career? Why that Ravens game only? Just aggravates me that every Moore game is now. 40-0 blowout.

Also, Cutler was sacked 1 time vs Oakland and Carolina combined, I don’t know how many times TB got to him. Maybe it’s the QB. Pass pro has been fine lately yet the excuse won’t go away. Does anyone watch Russell Wilson? That guy takes a 3 step drop and immediately has to move from his spot. There’s a team with bad pass pro, do there fans cry about it over and over and over?

Moore stat line for his last start in Foxboro:
16-32 281 yards 3 TD's 1 INT, name a Dolphins QB who's had more TD's and less INT's in Foxboro over the last 17 years?

Some people just don't want to admit he's a good player and a better QB than Cutler. Not just at this point in their careers, but in terms of winning %, forever. Matt has a > winning percentage as a starter than Jay when teams were game planning for him - on two bad teams in Carolina and Miami. He's also 3-1 off of the bench in Miami. Cutler has a <.500 winning percentage - and playing on same good teams in Denver and Chicago.

So how could anyone conclude he's the better QB?

Because football is a team game unless Matt More is the QB in which case it's all him or their are good excuses as to why he has success.

Wins isn't a QB statistic.

And I think Jay Cutler has been mostly dreadful.
