What a healthy Tannehill would do this year?

It makes no sense right now while Tannehill's value, coming off an injury, is really low.

The best case scenario might be drafting a quarterback high and then having two players at the position the team can win with. Kind of like what KC did in the past draft. Then you can evaluate both players and get value in a trade.

Parker is kind of in the same boat. I've been disappointed that he hasn't been able to stay healthy. Honestly, if Miami can "steal" a wide receiver in the mid rounds then maybe there's an argument to trade Parker.
I think starting QB always has value. We just gave 10 mil for a retired qb with average at best career, yes?
If we can fix the OL in one off season plus picks, and given up RT and DVP for it, I say go for it.

At least you are open to the idea....
to answer your question, Moore for now and draft a qb in early round. What option we have? RT will get kill behind this line, given his pocket presence.

Except, he was much better last year...

he was sacked 29 times...17 of those were before we cut Thomas and Turner...the biggest turds to put on a Dolphin uniform. Over the next 8 games, he was sacked 12 times. This season, we have only given up 18 sacks through 10 games. I would say, on the whole. The pass blocking is pretty average which is a massive improvement from several years ago when we were hitting 50 sacks a season. Before you pin those all on Tannehill, He had one of the shortest snap to sack averages (time between when the ball is snapped and the QB is hit) in the NFL.

Mod, what is the reason you merge the threads?
Thread number one is what I think RT can do this season in this roster.
Thread number two is my take on fixing the OL.
Two different topics entirely.
Why you merge? is it because how I look at this team and how I think about football is against the forum policy? Please answer.

The fact that you don't realize that they are the same is the ultimate irony. :wall

After this year it will be really telling to see how Gase handles RT. People are calling for Gases head and therefore it would buy him some time to bring in a guy he hand picks. Or he could just sink or swim with RT

At this point mate, it is best to stay on topic or this combined thread will end up in the locker.

So to back on topic, why would Tannehill be destroyed behind this line?

I can't believe I quoted myself...let the douchyness wash over me...

You asked me a legit question, let me try to answer.
Can Newton, he is a big strong QB, fast and quick, yes? He was getting big hits and got hurt when he was behind a sub par line. This year dolphins, Cutler got hurt, Moore took big hits in his limited snaps. I rest my case.

Not sure you even made a case. Cam Newton runs the ball like a fullback, he takes a completely different type of hit and takes considerably more of them because of that running style. Every QB takes big hits at the QB position regardless of the line in front of them...Dallas has one of the best in the NFL and Dak was sacked 6 times by one player. In fact, Dallas has given up more sacks (22) then the phins (18) have this year. Dak should be hurt at this point...correct..I mean if we are going to use that type of comparison.

For Gase supporters , one single excuse comes up every week is this season is a wash because RT went down.
Lets exam this theory. RT was a lower tier qb thru his entire nfl career except last year. Under Gase last year, RT improved somewhat. His qb rating was an amazing 48.6 last season. 24th on the list of 30. It is not even average. It was below average. Lets not make him into a Brady, Brees, Rogers, Wilson or even Sam Bradford. RT is no savior. Can he improve our record this year? may be, by one game if that. RT cannot make the line block better, protect better, eliminate stupid mistakes. RT cannot make Timmons play game one. RT cannot make JT run faster. RT cannot make OL coach stay clean. RT cannot make Manaluga reported to camp in shape and stop drinking in bar early in the morning.

Most importantly, RT cannot make the opposing defense stop stacking the box and shut down the running.

Wake up, Gase supporters. Stop using RT not playing as an excuse. Do you really the RT is the top tier qb that when the run game is not working, put the offense on his shoulder and pass 350 yds to win the game?

Gase cannot get a pass this year. He did a good job last year, may be due to some lucks and weak schedule. But OK, whatever, give Gase credit. But it is a two ways street. Gase sucks this year. And losing RT is not a valid excuse.

I agree completely with one exception, RT going down was a big factor, however, signing Jay Cutler is and will always be the sole reason why 2017 was never going to go well.

We could have the legion of boom, mixed with Dallas' 2016 offensive line, Adrian Peterson, Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson in their prime, coached by Belichick, and Cutler would still make the same mental rookie ****ing mistakes he's been making his entire career. He stares down his receivers, he doesn't move up in the pocket, takes what seems to be a 20 step ****ing drop and STILL throws off of his back ****ing foot, under throws, over throws, turns the ball over, makes poor decisions in general, and has lost all scrambling ability. He's a ****ing corpse out there.

The first decision our theoretical team's HC would do is get rid of Cutler. He's never been anywhere close to a good qb. The only thing he has on his resume is a handful of good games. You don't replace your franchise QB with a guy who just has a handful of good games, at least not as a starter.

Not without a real in-house replacement, though. It hasn't been that long since we've had the likes of Cleo Lemon, Chad Henne and so many forgettable others.

I'm not going to get into the RT issue at all here, but I wanted to point something out.

I really dont think you can use the sacks allowed stat AT ALL this season to support the idea that the oline has been better at pass protection.

Cutler tries to escape the pocket as soon as the ball is snapped with his perpetual backpeddles and errant throws off his back foot.

The sack totals would be MUCH higher if Cutler was actually doing his damn job.

I just felt I needed to point that out, lol.
