How much time are you willing to give Adam Gase as HC?

How many more years should Gase get to turn things around?

I believe in giving a coach 5 years to get a team to the playoffs and beyond. Calling for a coach to be fired after 2 seasons is just crazy.

Two more after this one, especially because I think the talent level on this team is greatly overrated by the fanbase and next year is going to be yet another clusterf*** of a season, one that can only be called good in relation to the current clusterf*** of a season.

That said, Gase is doing himself no favors by his decision making this year, both in calling the plays and in deciding on the personnel. Bringing in Cutler and jettisoning Ajayi are both textbook examples of self-inflicted wounds.

I never wanted Gase hired in the first place. I didn't think he ever did anything special to warrant getting a head coaching job. I just think he is in way over his head and his play calling sucks. I know Sean McVey is doing well with the Rams, but one big difference is he hired a very good coaching staff and Gase hasn't. McVey was smart hiring Wade Phillips as the DC while we are stuck with Matt Burke.

I can't vote on this because I want total overhall, starting with the front office. I then believe whoever comes in should be able to choose his own coach.

I give him the same amount of rope I would give a college coach. Give him a chance to get his players in there and to drop the players that don't fit his system. That can't be done overnight in the NFL with the salary cap, free agency and draft.

Ya, man, I know what your saying and I even respect that line of thinking, but the fact of the matter is that we have seen the kind of players he wants and the kind of systems he has in mind and they suck! I mean they really, really suck!! They SUCK!! BAD!!

Kiko, and Branch, with the 10 mil a year contracts along with all the mind effing Pouncey worship...WTH?? His systems that are utter futility___
His fixes that make things worse___

I have seen enough. The Dolphins need a new vision and plan. Ross needs to sell or turn the entirety of football operations over to a Football wise wizard sage who has a proven track record.

I'm not so concerned with the won/loss record, we knew this season was a crapshoot the moment Tannehill went down....what bothers me is that we haven't played a complete game all season and seem to be getting worse. Outside of the second half against Atlanta, we've only had sporadic good quarters. Unless there is progress the last two months, I could see dropping Gase at the end of the season.

Here is what I would like to see.

FIRE the ENTIRE front office at the end of the season. There is no way that I would promote any of those dirt bags because they have too much Tannenbaum influence.

I would fire Gase right now but that’s just how I am; I fire people. But realistically, he will get a pass for this season but only have one more chance. 2018 playoffs or he is fired. I would also force him to give up the playbook and have zero input on play calling.

Need to see him back with a competent QB at the helm before I can decide.

The signs last year were good. This year i am mildly nauseated by his "play not to lose" scheming (which isn't working as we're losing).

But that has to be viewed in the context of having 2 sh1t QBs.

Let's say I'm happy to cut him some slack but less slack than last year's results should give him.

2 more seasons minimum, probably 3. If you keep all your head coaches on a short leash you're going to have too much turnover, and your players will never have time to buy in to any system or culture. Gase seems stubborn but he's not nearly as dumb as Sparano or as lethargic as Philbin. It was easy to see early on they weren't good coaches. I don't think the same can be said for Gase. Give him time to do what he wants, to get smarter and more dedicated players, before burning it down and starting from scratch yet again.

I don't know really. He's had a lot on his plate this season and hasn't really caught a break since. It would be nice to see him get a rookie QB and whisper the **** out of him to an Aaron Rodgers type status. I think he deserves that at least.

However, when your starting QB goes down and your first thought as a replacement is Jay Cutler. . it's mind boggling. He didn't do for Jay Cutler what his entire platform is built on, making QB's better. Cutler is terrible and has been for his entire career. I understand that he was in Denver with Peyton, yeah Peyton didn't need him nor did he realistically learn anything from Gase. If anything Peyton told Gase how QB works and I guess no notes were taken.

Yeah I'm a little bit torn. I don't know if Gase is the guy, but he was coach at the time of playoffs and that's good enough for me to hang in for 1 more season.

2 more after this one. Last year he installed a mental toughness in the team - all of those close wins were not by accident nor is it easy ripping off 9-2 down the stretch even with an “easy” schedule - especially when you aren’t world beaters yourself.

He’s so handicapped this year by injuries - as many have said we kind of had no business winning most of the 4 games we did win. To me that’s coaching.

My only big issue w him is in his decision to get Cutler (which I railed against from day 1) and now his stubbornness in sticking with him even though he is a corpse.

Give him 5 years total...so 3 more years...but if I am the one making that decision I add a "slippery slope" caveat to those words...too many holes on the roster...too much of a talent deficit to overcome to expect a real team in 2 years ...I need to see positive forward movement...another year like this and I would pull the plug...despite injuries and whatever other excuses/reasons happen to come our way....build a TEAM with "next man up" mentality...tired of the "coach speak"...tired of the "if only" this or that....tired of hearing about the ref's blowing the game for us...blah blah blah...man up and play ball like you mean it....overcome the obstacles and stop the excuses....next thing you know we will handing out participation trophies....as I was told growing up (may be sensitive to the millennials) sh*t or get off the pot...grow a pair and do your job!

Comparing him to Sparano is exactly what you should do; learn from the past. Fire him now and move on from the sinking ship.

Fun to go through coaches every year and half.

He gets as much time as he needs as far as I'm concerned. He will be a great coach in time.

People are just upset, and understandably so. This is all just heat of of the moment and hard for everyone to think objectively. I was so excited after last season but even so, when Thill went down in August I knew the season was over. All I can hope for is if they get a high pick to help us for next season. Since they won't be winning a super bowl this year there's no need to mess up the team by winning.
I know I'll get hate for talking about flopping the season, but I think it's unfair to the team and it's fans for them to win if it hurts them in the long run

I agree with the first part of your post but totally disagree with the last part. It is never in any teams favor to tank for a season. Reasons why:

1) There are no guarantee's that drafted players will play up to their potential in the NFL, mostly due to the speed the game is played at and not having a mentality to learn new systems that are different from what they did in college. I see teams that have a less than 50% success rates with their drafted players.

2) Character issues. It is bad and getting worse! Many players come into the NFL thinking they are "Mr. Wonderful" or some kind of super hero. Teams are lucky if they can just get Mr. Reliable. This is tougher to evaluate than football skill. There are more than enough characters in the draft. Not as many of the NFL hopefuls have character. It is personnel character that will help them get through the hardest parts of transitioning to the NFL. I feel this is just as important as a players skill level.

3) A lack of maturity and self discipline! This is endemic among draftees. Some have it but many other do not.
  • These men have been focused on getting to the NFL all their lives, It is a shame that many of these players fail to understand that once they are drafted, the work gets harder, not easier. They do not have it made; they are in a position to "have it made" once the succeed, but they are not there yet.
  • Many young players are coming into a job that provides them more money then they ever saw in their life and are not knowledgeable concerning what to do with it. You can't tell them do what to do with their money. The NFL has started training programs so these young men don't get blindsided by fame and fortune. Clearly, this is a widespread problem if the NFL has to prepare the new players for non-football issues.
  • Many of these young men have some interests off the field that will negatively effect their playing ability. Any special treatment that had been given them due to their football skills as they progressed through high School and college now actually works against them now in the form of a lack of self discipline. When they finally recognize the problems that they have made for themselves they are often broke, addicted to some drug or behavior that now controls their lives, and find their "friends" can't or won't help them and that the NFL has moved on from them because they have lost their value as a player.
4) Tanking has never helped in developing a winning attitude. Every team has faced bad seasons for any number of reasons. It's character, not high draft picks that you need to get yourself through adversity.

Do you really think it is worth tanking in order to get a higher draft picks after considering the reasons I have put forth not to tank?
