How much time are you willing to give Adam Gase as HC?

How many more years should Gase get to turn things around?

He has the right attitude. He has proven the ability to adapt his system around his talent at other places. He got a 10-6 record out of last years team. He has won 4 of 5 close games this year. Thats a lot of positives.

I give him this season and two more. By then he should have his team and systems fully built, and if he cannot perform then, I will have no hesitancy moving on. But, I think he will prove he is a winner and very good coach.

I judge coaches long term by wins.

You have to give him next year with a healthy Tannehill and some more pieces on the offense such as TE, G and RB. But, if the brand of Football is still this extremely low quality crap we've seen this season he doesn't make 6 games, he gets fired. By the way I don't know what Clyde C does as the OC but he should be replaced by a top offensive guy. This offense needs some fresh thinking.

as long as it takes....but seriously 2 seasons should be enough for it to be clear

I agree with Digital...this year and two more minimum. Winning more games than the stats suggest has to count for something.

IMO our personnel is considerably worse than conventional wisdom allows. We have maybe one player in Suh who threatens near the top of the league at his position, and we had to overpay for him. It shouldn't be possible to draft year after year and never find anyone who is worthy of first or second team All Pro.

He took this squad to the playoffs his first year, when’s the last time we did that. Look at the teams who lost their starting QB’s and how they are doing. As far as Ajayi, good move, he is building a culture of players who dont care who gets the ball that just want to win. His system is pass catching backs who can block. It takes time, drafting and culture to win. You give this man 5 years period. If he can make it to the playoffs in consecutive seasons, keep him longer. He gets a pass this year with all this team has endured.

i have seen enough already to know this guy is not taking this Team anywhere. He comes off as so ****y when he has yet to accomplish anything of substance. Can we please hire a GOOD COACH for once, and not these Jokers with little to no Head coaching experience. And while were at it, can we send TB and his whole gang the hell out of town on the first thing SMOKING, LOL.

2 years. I still believe in him. He has made errors no doubt, but he is learning.

When Gase had Manning, I am willing to bet that Manning ignored most of what Gase said and just did his own thing. Manning had a way of making crappy coaches look good. I give Gase this year and the next and if the results are still crappy, he's gotta go.

And, everyone that voted "fire him now" should get banned.

you made a bad decision, don't deserve redemption, and I am offended that as a fan of this messageboard I have to read your drivel

Wow. People are FAR too fickle around here. I get that this team hasn't done **** for damn near two decades but you can't just expect ALL the problems to be solved in two years. Hell fixing everything in three years is even a tall order. For me if he tanks again next year then he should be gone. As of right now though he had one good season and is on track to have a bad one. That is a 50/50 split with two seasons. Not enough to ax someone. Had he tanked the first year then I might agree but he is even at this point. Moreover, as I have stated elsewhere, Sparano and Philbin were both give three plus seasons to get things done so Gase deserves just as much time.

give him another year with his damn QB. he hasn't had a full season with his QB yet

I'm as upset as anyone about this season. What has upset me the most is not the losing but how bad Miami has looked in their losses. It seems they either win a close game or get embarrassed. Couple that with the fact that 3 of those embarrassing losses were on national television makes it worse.

Moving from being upset to what worries me. Gase's decisions this season has me worried. Last season he seemed to make all the right decisions. This season has been full of very bad decisions. In the area of personnel I'm not sure how much blame can be given him although I'm sure he is consulted at the least and most likely has a big part of those personnel decisions ... such as the decision to trade a pick for TE Thomas. Like Ajayi or not that was a questionable decision. To give Gase some wiggle room though He and Ajayi have been at odds since the beginning of last season. Then the personnel decision ... or may I say philosophy ... of not placing a high value on the OL? This one perhaps worries me the most. The idea that you can plug any player at the guard positions and be successful I just don't get. I'm not a coach just a fan but it seems to me that having a strong OL is maybe the second biggest key to winning games. Oh lets not forget Gase's infatuation with Cutler. Using $10 million of their cap to sign Cutler then sticking with Cutler just baffles me. Trading a pick to New Orleans for LB Anthony who doesn't even see the field for month after getting to Miami. Finally there's the saga with Landry. What will Gase do here? Miami has already paid Stills so how much money does Miami want to put in the WR position? Then we can move into the play calling and Gase's seemingly unwillingness to adapt to his players strengths and create game plans that showcase those strengths and attack the opposing defense's weaknesses. I could go on.

I'm willing to give Gase more time. Despite all the stuff I posted above I feel he has potential to become good. But he is young. This is his first HC job. He's got to learn. Because of all this I'm willing to give him plenty of time to show progress ... I would give him 5 years. Let's be clear. Last season was fools gold. Shame on any of us who thought after last season Gase had gotten Miami to a point to be a consistent playoff team. Last season everything went right. It was a fluke. Miami wasn't a good team. Even thought they went to the playoffs I didn't expect them to do so this season. They are to devoid of talent still. Gase needs time to build the team. This is why I would give him so much time. I realize the NFL stands for "Not For Long" if you don't win but if Ross truly wants to build a winning franchise he must remain patient and give Gase time. So do we fans. On Gase's part he must show both Ross and the fans that he has a plan to build a winner.

When Gase had Manning, I am willing to bet that Manning ignored most of what Gase said and just did his own thing. Manning had a way of making crappy coaches look good. I give Gase this year and the next and if the results are still crappy, he's gotta go.

That doesn't jibe with what Gase did with Tim Tebow in Denver or Jay Cutler in Chicago or even with comments that Payton Manning has made.

3 more years min. He more than earned that for what he did with a crap roster last year. This year chicken **** tastes like chicken **** and even worse, we have the worst starting qb in the nfl.

Our players are not good enough, I predicted a losing record before the season started.

Would sack the front office (from tannenbaum to the lowest scouting intern) right now though

Spot on. I didn't expect this season to go like last season unless Tannehill stayed healthy and continued to grow as we saw him do last season. IMO Tannehill masked a lot of the OL issues last season that Cutler can't do this season. Tannehill was a huge reason Miami made it to the playoffs. Biggest factor for Miami now is getting rid of Tannenbaum. My fear is Ross won't do this. If Gase wants to be successful he may need at some point to create a power grab.
