Gase's Rebuilt Offense is going to shock the NFL

Actually no just based off the 8 game run week 6-14 we scored 194 points which was 14th during that run.

If you account for the 3 TD’s scores by special teams and defense the offensive scoring drops even further during that run. Right around the 21 points per game that we have averaged for the last decade.

We simply haven’t had a top 10 offense in so long that when we put up average offensive numbers people get excited

It's been 6 years.....how much longer are we supposed to give him?

I did not approve of drafting Ryan Tannehill and I’m still a skeptic. But...........

Tannehill has improved every year despite playing for multiple head coaches and offensive coordinators. He’s played behind horrible offensive lines and taken a beating. Through it all he’s had a pretty good attitude.

I’m betting that if Tannehill stays healthy, which he should, he’ll have a career year.

Well, there is a difference between 5 years of having an O-line that has been average or a bit less pass-blocking, and having a line that has lead the league the last 5 years that Tannehill has started in allowing the most sacks by far...tough for a QB to be effective, when he is running for his life. Have you seen how effective the Great Tom Brady is, when his line does not do their job?

This year at worst, the O-line will be solid (unless huge injuries hit), so this year, and only this year will be the best barometer in the last 5 years he has started on on how effective Tannehill can be, when he gets close to, or the same pass-blocking of the top QBs.

Heard it all before....It was Philbin, no it was Sherman, no it was Lazor, no it's the O Line, non blocking RBs/TEs, etc, etc. At some point RT has to stop getting a pass (pardon the pun) as he's the one constant thru this constantly mediocre offense. And, true, it may not be all on him but he's also part of it, yet many will blame everyone else or anything else but him. Just about every team/QB has to deal with O line issues when playing thru a season (or SIX seasons) yet some are able to forego or adjust to the problems and make things happen. As of yet, RT is not a QB that makes things happen.....so, now we give him another season to do so. Hope it happens but I already know if he's the same RT he has always been (nice guy, tough as nails, etc. but not an elite or even above avg. QB) some here will blame ANYONE/ANYTHING but him (again).

Yeah on the ones where Miami hasn’t proven they can “shock” the nfl on offense since the Soviet Union was around. Lol If anyone’s day is ruined it seems to be yours. You’re so upset and stressed about a simple comment.

This from the person who's clearly upset enough to try and be contrary on any optimistic point.

Buck up, little camper.

"We" who? You and the absolute trash that was around him his first four years, most of whom were unable to find employment after being purged? You and WV and Shouright? You and the mouse in your pocket?

Ok.....I'll rephrase it: "It's been 6 years....how much more time is adequate before the team moves on?"

So, what's the answer to that...lemme guess: "As much time as he needs OR until we get a good O Line OR until we get a better coach/GM OR until we get better WRs", etc., etc. - Guess he should have a lifetime rider in his contract with all that huh? There have been QBs equal to or below RT who have done more with less and were still canned for underperforming.

BTW....I went back and reviewed some of your old Tannehill posts.....it's more than obvious that you are a RT loyalist and apologist and feel he can do no wrong so I don't expect you to look at it with an unbiased eye or rational though process.

If you'd like to discuss it rationally, I'm happy to. Otherwise I can do the equivalent, and see that it's more than obvious that you're a stereotypical Tannehater who refuses to see that it takes a team effort to win consistently in this league, and will use any excuse to put ALL the blame for the team's failure's squarely on his shoulders. After all, you've already pointed out that he's the only consistency since 2012, right? Just one more step to having people wonder if Ryan took your lunch money as a kid.

Your call.

For the record, again, Tannehill has been far from flawless. I've watched pretty much everything he's done, and have thrown up my hands plenty of times and gone, "Dude. What are you DOING?" And his game had plenty of flaws. But he was DRAFTED as a work in progress. He was good enough to beat out Matt Moore his rookie year. And he has clearly fixed a lot of those things that made him a project in the first place.

But if the QB is the moat integral position on an NFL team, then it is imperative that said QB be put into a position to succeed. And for the first four years of his career, Tannehill wasn't. You (not you specifically) can call it making excuses, you can call it whatever you want. I don't really give a **** anymore. You're frustrated? Tired? Me too. But I'm not gonna pin it on Tannehill when this entire organization, top to bottom, screwed the pooch on how they handled the goddamn situation from 2012-2015, and made it seem like they were actively trying to set the most integral person on the team up to fail.

You don't line hearing excuses about the O-Line? Tough. It was what it was. You had people on this board saying that Tannehill lacks pocket awareness when he literally had opposing linemen in his face in less than a second and a half. Is pocket awareness an issue of his? Absolutely. But people were using that as a detriment, and blaming Tannehill for sacks when the Jets defensive line was literally pushing his entire line back in his face from the snap of the ball. That O-Line play was flat-out criminal, and I'm amazed he did as much as he did.

It finally started working in 2016, and then Calais Campbell. And now, suddenly, people are spouting "old and injury prone." It's asinine, and it's frustrating to watch.

Tannehill isn't perfect, and he hasn't proven himself to be an elite QB by any stretch of the imagination, and I am absolutely on board with taking a QB for the future. There's no point in looking backward, lamenting, and not preparing for the future. But that "how many chances does he get" **** can take a flying ****. Because he sure as hell didn't get one for the first four years of his career here.

I was being rational (and notice I didn't resort to childishly calling you a "stereotypical Tannelover" - so who is the irrational one?).....not blindly loyal though. If you read my post(s) without getting yourself in a dither you'd see I said I hope he does well (which I've been hoping for since 2012). I also praised his toughness and general "good guy ness". I also said (which you choose to ignore or just can't see) that he is PART of the problem....not the entire problem nor the whole reason for the team's misery. In a way I feel about him almost like I felt about Joe Philbin....a nice & decent, respectable guy but one not entirely fit for the job nor one that would get this team anywhere beyond mediocre to average.

You don't think he can scheme around that with the gang of speedy smurfs and drake? That's a lot of speed on the field at one time coming at the defense from all directions. (This is not to say that I would be upset if we picked up a bruiser of a RB and a big strong pass catching TE).

In a word: No

I would say very impressive considering he lead our team in catches yards and TD WITH A **** LINE AND **** QB.
It is time to move on from Landry.

This, he made chicken soup out of chicken s#!t. I'll repeat, Browns will win more games than Gase-led Phins.

Starts at the top. It's the ultimate team game. People act like if Brady was our QB the past 6 years we'd have won several SBs. Fact is, on this team with this coaching and talent, his legacy would've been s#!t.

Does anyone think that maybe be out all of last year it actually could have helped tannehill? He never got a chance to sit back and see the whole picture, maybe he learned something about himself and his skillset and what he needs to do this year

The missing TE piece is this big glarring neon sign to the offense- like covering a TE on defense with these LB ‘s.
This.

As Albert pointed out, we still need a good TE. I'd like to get Mike Gesicki if he is available in the second round.

Offense under Gase wasn't good with Tannehill or Cutler. Got rid of Landry and Matthews at WR and Miller and Ajayi at RB. Unless Miami lands a game changer at QB like Mayfield the only shock would be if Gase comes back for a 4th year as HC.
