Grier seems to be allergic to drafting instant starters! It’s sickening! To be honest, I don't know much about him. He is big, but ESPN had him as the 132nd rated prospect in the draft, so he seems like a reach. I have two big picture reactions:
-Shame this is how the Terron Armstead signing has turned out. We are drafting at LT to cover for him
-I do not like the mosaic of the first two picks, neither player seems ready to really contribute much this year. They are both "developmental" players. Chop needs to work on strength and technique, and I think similar issues with technique for Paul. With high picks, I like more well developed players that are positioned to help this year. I was hoping we would emerge with immediate help for this year with our first two picks, and that does not seem to be the case. Hopefully I am wrong.
You got me!No guys like Kyle Crabbs who knows way more about the draft than you do!
So we can find out who might be starting for us in 2028?Im ready for next years draft!
There are a lot of Dolphins podcasters who hate this pick! Bigtime reach!
I was hoping for immediate help and contributions from our first two picks, not insurance. I am underwhelmed by the mosaic of the first two picks. I agree with the term "insurance." They may be good players eventually, but they do not seem ready to contribute now in a meaningful fashion.Big athlete with high upside. Gets too learn from an ideal mentor for a year. I believe he had one of the highest pass blocking grades.
Both of our draft picks provide immediate insurance for a few of our question names going into the season.
“Paul finished the 2023 season as the best pass-blocking tackle in the FBS, leading the position in pass-block grading (91.5) and true pass-set grading (89.8). He surrendered only one sack and one quarterback hit across 470 pass-blocking snaps”
